31. Free Spirit Spheres | Capsule Hotels

Location: Vancouver Island, Canada
Architect: Tom Chudleigh

These treetop spheres reflect an external and internal ‘oneness’: the suspension system is founded in biomimicry, whilst the absence of interior walls and partitions enables the overall space to connect with the outside.

33. Time Capsule Retreat

Location: Pahang, Malaysia
Designer: Kevin Young

Designed by Young to improve his father’s resort, these concrete capsules are almost exact replicas of Strauss’ repurposed pipes in Das Park. However here, the full glass door provides visual continuity between the interior and exterior, as well as an abundance of light.

34. DreamLodge

Location: Lavender, Singapore

DreamLodge exemplifies a fairly standard approach to adapting older buildings – the external 1950s shophouse façade a part of the urban street language, whilst the interior is now modernized with minimalist pods and inspiring quotes.

35. Inbox Capsule Hotel

Location: Saint Petersburg, Russia
Architects: DA Architects

Despite the acute simplicity of these wooden boxes, possibly as plain as they could be, the warm materiality and overall tonal palette ultimately avoid a cold and detached aesthetic.
