3. Sea Level Residence

Location: Malibu, CA
Style: Modern

This single-family residence is a remodel of a 3-story house. The existing design consisted of compartmentalized spaces that were small, poorly lit, and offered almost no views to the Pacific Ocean. The primary objective of the new design has been to improve the planning to maximize light, views, and ventilation.

An open planning method has been used. Fenestrations have been enlarged by moving the lintel level above the existing. An unobstructed view of the ocean is achieved by relocating the staircase. The private zone of the house is the second floor. The master suite consists of a glass wall that can be closed by an automated shading device. The third floor and terrace consist of a bar and a media room.

I am presently a student of architecture, from Aayojan School of Architecture, Jaipur. I pursued architecture due to my keen interest in understanding forms, spaces, colors and construction. We, as architects have all the skills required to present our ideas through graphics. But to be able to achieve the same with the means of articulation of words and spreading better understanding to a greater population, is indeed a challenge. Through my little efforts, I want to take this challenge and try to make a difference.
