11. Art Districts

Art districts are a community-building thread of spaces. This concept has developed in the recent past, it is an implicit practice of transforming crime and poverty trodden places into art displays and emotion-evoking facades through art.

This, in turn, results in a domino effect of the creation of many such walls and facades which together form the art districts of a city and act as an important point of reference for travel and leisure.

12. Gaming Zones

The sprinting rise in technology has enormously increased the habit of gaming. Video Games, Bowling, poker-based games are all highly popular amongst children as well as the millennials. The gaming hubs with striking neon lighting, loud music, and score audios create an addictive gaming atmosphere.

The gaming companies would prefer hiring an architect to turn their set into a thriving gaming hub and focusing on these probabilities would make a stamping thesis performance.

13. Performing Arts Centre

Performing art centres that fall under a larger category of cultural centres are multi-purpose spaces that are used to portray an eccentric display of dance, music, and theatre. Such craft plus community-oriented spaces have a numerous number of divisions within like the auditorium, exhibition spaces, lounges, cafeterias.

Many beautifully designed performing arts centers have left a glorious mark and have bagged awards. Considering this as the thesis topic will be an added advantage.

14. Exhibition Spaces

It is a natural tendency for humans to express. With the rise in talents, art, and civilizations, exhibition spaces become as important as other conventional built habitats. Usually covering a large area on land, they are thriving spaces where stories are plastered onto its walls and shelves; taken down only for another story to be narrated, to be heard.

15. Cruise

Do not confuse this with marine engineering, which is a wholesome and important field that is extremely necessary for technical soundness. As architects, you can focus on the interiors of the cruise, the architecture within that makes a cruise a luxurious lovely sail.

Many architects and interior designers have already worked on this challenging brief, you can be the next one too.

16. Spa

Health and wellness have been the most important factor in leading a happy life. Spas have made a relaxing mark with all the treatments, massages, and relishes that free one’s body, mind, and soul. Spa design is an important feature in the hospitality realm and can be explored to new heights.

17. Heritage House

This topic requires immense research, understanding a place, its people, and the culture. Heritage houses are a reflection of a culture embossed within their walls, windows, and exciting corners.

The aim of heritage houses is to understand the architectural features of a place and incorporate them in the new age design for the users to visit and soak in the traditions and heritage.

18. Museums

A museum design is often a gripping and demanding architectural challenge. Museums usually have their own advantages and shortcomings. Certain museums have a necessity of enclosing specialized display places, multiple rooms, spaces designated for film screening, archives with good circulation corridors, and regular designing as per the context challenge.

19. Hotel

A hotel is a space that strives to radiate comfort and luxury to its users. There are several examples of hotels varying from seven stars to three. The user target is mostly travellers and people residing in a different city than theirs, so it becomes a pivotal point to take note of all the luxury standards.

20. Adventure Clubs

The modern-day Millenials have funneled into indoor adventure sports rather than outdoor adventure because of the packed schedules that are a constraint to travel, the pandemic becoming another main reason.

Architects can take charge and design different zones and categorize the various indoor adventure sports to provide a synthesized adventure experience.

The topics mentioned above are merely a congregation of the known leisure and fun places that architecture students can focus on, the real challenge lies in pairing this up with different user groups and the big architecture concepts and creating something that is beyond history. Hope this would have given an insight into the options in designing leisure and fun spaces.

Vajjrashri Anand is an architecture student who reads places and people like a story worth being told. She believes architecture is a lot like life; made of wonder, beauty and hurt. She strives to constantly evolve. A nuisance, a delight. A sting, a smile. She's a soul hugging one word at a time.
