La Shed Architecture was born to innovate the relationship of citizens with architecture. A relationship in which calling an architect must become as natural as calling an accountant. A relationship in which to design a place of life in one’s image and likeness must no longer be a matter of luxury or utopia.
La Shed Architecture has developed a thorough expertise in the renovation, transformation, and construction of buildings of all types and historical backgrounds. Opening, lighting, and alignment are the core of all projects designed by the studio.
The studio’s projects are distinguished by their functional and decidedly contemporary traits and by using sustainable, affordable, and classic materials. Attention is paid to the details and finishes to obtain a quality result, throughout the development process and until the end of the works.

1. La Shed 2015 | La Shed Architecture
The project for the new office of La Shed Architecture embodies the principles of the studio, in the antithesis between traditional architecture and contemporary reinterpretation of spaces. The spaces of the studio are open, glazed and turn to the street to expose the work of the architects to passers-by; on the back of the office space, a meeting room screened from a translucent shelf wall and a service environment with the kitchen and access to services in the basement.
2. Maison Terrebonne 2014
A house designed to accommodate a person, and who bases his design on different levels. Each level responds to specific functions, open to each other but with specific hierarchies between intimate spaces, located in the central white cube, and convivial divided simply by the flight of stairs that connects them. From the inside, the house is open to nature to offer occupants a view of an evolving painting.
3. Maison de la Rivière Saint-François 2019 | La Shed Architecture
The Maison de la Rivière Saint-François is a residential architecture composed of four volumes disposed into different levels to take advantage of the orographic constraint and maximize the river views and take advantage of natural light.
The juxtaposition of the spaces, the variations in the levels of the roof and the interior ceilings, the double-height holes give each of the spaces a clean character, accentuate the reading of the different volumes and create, through the placement of the windows, frames on the surrounding landscape. This contrast of dilated and contract spaces that converge with each other, as well as the play of stairs and double heights, create a balanced dwelling that combines majestic spaces with raised ceilings with more intimate and collected places.
4. Au Gré des Champs 2019
The Cowshed of La Shed architecture is a project for a family of breeders who have developed, over the years, eco-responsible know-how for the production of organic cheeses.
This building was an opportunity to provide animals and workers in a comfortable environment. It fits into the context of the existing farm despite being a large building. A wooden structure is its backbone; the translucent coating reflects, by day, the surrounding landscape, making the stable disappear in context and guarantees complete natural lighting of the interior; at night, with the lights on, he turns architecture into a lantern.
5. Maison Louis-Hémon 2019 | La Shed Architecture
This house of La Shed Architecture is the renovation of a duplex apartment set into several levels, in continuity and relation to the outdoor spaces. The kitchen on the ground floor connected with the terrace serves as a union between the basement living space and the sleeping area upstairs. The architecture of the outdoor spaces, including the vegetable garden on the roof, and the interiors merge through the large windows that allow the rooms to enjoy natural light without sacrificing privacy. Thus, in an urban space, a comfortable residence surrounded by greenery is constituted.
6. Chalet Paramount 2017
The Shed Architecture with this building reinterprets a traditional alpine chalet at the same time. Built with local, natural, and sustainable materials that guarantee durability and strengthen its vernacular character. The complex fits perfectly into the landscape despite the topography and consists of three main elements: the cottage, the garage, and the pool. A simple and quiet building, wild in its external connotation as modern and with clean lines inside. The outdoor-projected living area is located on the ground floor and juts out towards the weighing, while the bedrooms are divided between the attic and the basement.
7. Maison Shefford 2016
This project by La Shed Architecture consists of minimalist features and natural materials that recall the nature of the peak on which it’s perched. In every room, the landscape talks with the interior spaces creeping in from the large windows together with the sun rays that, refracting themselves on the light and natural colors of the rooms, naturally illuminate the whole house. The constant interaction with the natural landscape that changes with the seasons causes the perception of interior changes several times throughout the year.
8. Maison du Lac Saint-Pierre 2016 | La Shed Architecture
The house, located on the shore of the lake Saint-Pierre, is designed in traditional lines that integrate with the traditional architecture that makes up the lakefront skyline. The building, partially underground, guarantees privacy for the ground floor, whose linearly arranged rooms overlook the water. The volume above, covered in cedar tiles, contains the bedrooms and bathrooms; on the side, a second adjoining building houses the garage and guest suite.
9. Maison NDG 2016
La Shed Architecture in this project develops the transformation and expansion of a building of the 1930s in Montreal. The design is based on contrasts, desaturation, and monochromaticity of the new plants. The exterior of the building maintains the original aesthetic, enhancing its details while the extension on the back, turns out to be a simple and monochromatic volume in black wood in contrast to the exposed bricks of the persistence.
10. Chalet de la Plage 2015 | La Shed Architecture
On the shore of Lake Lanaudière, the Chalet of La Shed Architecture also follows the principle of integration with nature although with contemporary connotations made of simple and refined details that gently integrate it with the context. The building has two different faces, one mainly closed, with small openings, facing the street and an open one, leaning towards the lake, with large windows throughout the façade.
