Cleo County, a gold-certified green-building project, is spread over 25 acres with 2638 residential units. The site constitutes residential towers, a recreational club, and a commercial complex. This Egyptian theme-based project has been envisioned as a green oasis and encourages living close to nature. The blurring boundary between the exterior and interior with large floor-to-ceiling windows captures an adequate amount of daylight into the apartments. The essence of an Egyptian pyramid, scaled down to human proportions, is captured in the design of the high-rise housing.

The project reflects a unique amalgamation of contemporary living and Egyptian-themed architecture. The towers have been strategically oriented around the lush landscaped greens to offer elaborate views to each residential unit. Multiple landscaped courtyards host recreational spaces with sports courts, playgrounds, Egyptian theme-based parks like pavilions of Giza, Garden of Hibiscus, interactive water-based zones, and Plumeria Island Float.
To enhance the overall aesthetic, the exterior facade is in the tones of Ivory Beige, the predominant colours of Egyptian building materials. Features of Contemporary architecture are highlighted through clean lines and fins with textures and screens to add a hint of playfulness. Egyptian architecture reflects in the minute details of the building components. The entry gate is adorned with a massive stone sphinx and Egyptian cornices with sphinx statues on the adjacent sides of the gate complex.
Design Statement and its Relevance:
According to the client’s brief, the project had to be iconic and a theme-based design. Even with high density as a major challenge, the focus of the design was on elevated liveability. The sustainability measures adopted during the construction of this project lead to it being recognised as an IGBC gold certified project. The Egyptian theme of the project is one-of-its kind leading it to become a major landmark, along with provision of world-class facilities.
To ensure the consistency of the theme throughout, different elements were incorporated in the minute details such as the placement of the sphinx on the entry gate, the light beacons installed as volutes and motifs and use of pylon stone clad mass in the elevations. With 80% open space, the project houses interconnected greens with car-free movement in the courtyards. Client’s idea for luxury was defined through the Egyptian architecture’s rich, bold and robust nature.
Overall, the uniqueness as well as the effectiveness of the design along with high standards of living fulfilled the client brief and redefined the meaning of luxury living in the area.
