A combination of bold moves and subtle details led to this design’s success. The home features two-story bay windows at the entry and exit, framing amazing panoramic city views like artwork. Large, operable openings blur the lines between interior and exterior through both the private and public areas of the house, allowing nature to be both a communal and personal experience.

Open spaces flooded with natural light and stunning views are complemented by a plethora of finely crafted details: sliver openings visually connecting the foyer to the kitchen, a refined take on a traditional steel stair handrail, wood paneling at select locations, a wood-clad fireplace framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, and an infinity pool with an edge that visually cascades into the city below.

Like much of Dryden’s work, this home is a prime example of how beauty and creativity can still take center stage through a process of adaptive reuse, not just through new construction.

Dryden Studio Abstract:

Dryden Studio is a comprehensive architecture and interior design studio based in Nashville, Tennessee. Their work is uniquely rooted in personal history and a contemporary practice approach born out of a desire to make meaningful places that contribute to healthy communities. Over the last 20 years, they have completed an array of projects across Nashville and beyond, ranging from neighborhood master plans, mixed-use developments, adaptive reuse projects, private residences, boutique hotels, retail spaces, restaurants, corporate offices, and public park projects.

Working closely with other creatives is an integral part of their design process. The Studio works diligently to facilitate strong, creative partnerships with the artists and craftspeople they work with, believing this form of open collaboration results in the creation of special places that are uniquely beautiful, highly functional, and intellectually stimulating. No project is approached with a pre-prescribed design solution. Instead, the Studio works closely with their clients to establish a common design language to bring their creative vision to life. “Art Without Ego” is one of their primary values.

Dryden gives a voice to their clients’ creativity and expertly executes the design that will most delight their clients, not the designers. Dryden Studio sees itself as a collective of passionate designers wishing to create substantial, positive impacts on their clients and the community at large.
