Kanvinde’s style dealt with space, forms, and natural light. His works provide practicality in the Indian climate, dealing thoughtfully with problems like ventilation and excessive heat. His style often displays vernacular elements.

13. B V Doshi | Architect of India

The ‘Father of Indian Architecture’ retains a modernist style, much like his contemporaries Le Corbusier and Kahn, but adds an idiosyncratic Indian spirit to his work. After seeing some of his notable designs like the IIM Bangalore, NIFT Delhi, Amdavad ni Gufa, and CEPT University, it’s safe to say that his Pritzker Prize was indeed well deserved.

14. Charles Correa | Famous Indian Architecture

The Jawahar Kala Kendra and Vidhan Bhavan Bhopal are examples of modernist architecture in India and owe their existence to architect Charles Correa. He was credited for his sensitivity towards the urban poor and his use of traditional methods and materials.

Being the architect of the 3 tallest buildings in India as of 2019, and having designed multiple skyscrapers, the Contractor has influenced shaping the skylines of contemporary urban India. The 42 and The Imperial are a few of his excellent works built in the international style.

Laurie Baker’s affiliation towards sustainable and vernacular architecture as well as traditional techniques, allowed his buildings to be climate-responsive, at the same time use minimum materials, and have an uncompromised aesthetic.
