If we were to predict the future or what can happen in the next decade, we would think of advancement in the world’s education, health and economic sectors. The same applies to architectural design. Architecture is all about the best design and comfort for a user, but what are the future trends of architecture? This article will discuss future trends that may be the next best thing.

AI-Driven Design

Although AI is something that is gaining much attention today, we have still reached its highest point. Nowadays, architects use AI for design ideas, concept design, and content generation, and they use machine learning to design buildings and structures. But in the future, we may have AI where we can see a prototype of the building in a small space, where a user can feel and understand every function needed in their required space. AI may also be used to find real-time faults like leakages or damages done to the building to help identify the problem and act quickly. AI could also monitor the user of the house and their body requirements, adjust the house’s temperature, or even switch on a television to play something that will cheer the user up.

Advancement of Construction Technologies

New construction methods may allow for a quicker and more affordable price. Experimenting with new materials that can be scientifically made in labs that are environmentally friendly and are durable could help architectural design rise to a new level. 3D printing, called contour crafting, uses large printers to create building parts. In the future, these printers can design intricate or complicated architectural designs, saving time and labor. The use of drones or other vehicles that fly can help with site surveys, inspections, and a better understanding of the project phase. This increases the safety of the on-site construction workers and helps the team understand the issues clearly.

Climate Adaptive architecture

Nowadays, architecture is mainly advanced in creating buildings that are prone to damage caused by an earthquake. Future buildings and structures can be designed to make buildings resist the damages caused by floods, droughts, or hurricanes. As the concern for rising sea levels increases, creating homes floating on water can save up land and help make more homes for the growing population.

Designing for a community

Planning a building so that all the needed supplies, entertainment, education and healthcare are together can help save the cost of travelling and encourage users to walk around instead of having no motion all day. Planning this so that there are people with different social backgrounds to promote diversity and social inclusion can help the users understand the world and the people more.

Solar and Renewable Energy Integration

Today, solar panels are pretty prominent in building architectural designs. We may see seamless blends between solar panels and buildings in the next few years. We may also see materials generating electricity from different movements, like sound or pollution. These solar panels could, in the future, generate enough electricity for a whole neighbourhood.

Robots in Construction and Maintenance

Human labour takes time and effort, and during the summer, it can be hard on a human to construct sites while standing under the hot sun. Robots in the future can change that. Using new technologies, robots can take control of the construction and maintenance process, and they might be able to assemble a building in less time than human labour.

Hybrid Materials

Making materials that can change colour, texture, or even shape can be very helpful to users who live in a big family and to people who want a change in the environment. Concrete combined with materials that make it stronger and more durable is possible in the near future. Materials that can self-clean, making them safe for newborns and keeping viruses and bacteria away, are very helpful in the future.

Water positive architecture

Designing architecture in a way where water is conserved and reused can be the future. Systems can be installed to collect rainwater and clean it for drinking purposes. These buildings of the future might be able to design buildings that enhance the water ecosystem and biodiversity.

Space architectural habitats

Technology can be used to create an atmosphere similar to the atmosphere in space or zero-gravity environments. This atmosphere can be installed in space centers or museums to help younger generations or even adults understand space better.

A vision of tomorrow’s architectural design

As technology pushes boundaries and our need for climate change increases, the spaces we design will eventually become more innovative, adaptable and sustainable. From buildings that heal the environment to buildings that fulfil our needs, the next decade of architecture promises new innovations. The journey ahead is inspiring and the best is yet to come.
