The cabin in Hvaler is located at the edge of the forest, between rocks and boulders, with a view toward the sea.  It is clad in Cover bricks on both rooftop and walls to withstand weather and give the cabin a natural encounter with the surrounding pine forest.

The original cottage from 1962 was in poor technical condition and was decided to be demolished.

The new cabin is located and designed with regard to landscape impact, at the same spot as the existing cabin, so that there are no visible wounds in the terrain. The cabin is only visible some distance out at sea, with surrounding bushes and shrubs that protect the cottage from hard weather. The appearance of the cabin is discreet, with dark tones on the facades and roof.

The simple and compact shape makes it appears as an object that floats over the landscape. The concrete foundation is drawn in from the façade allowing nature and the terrain to creep completely under the building.

The regulatory provisions allow a maximum facade length of 12 meters to the sea, so the cabin has been given a compact, square shape with an asymmetrical, vaulted roof that allows the water to drain off in four directions. Towards the south, there is a large folding door from the kitchen that can be opened up to its full width, towards the terrace and the sea.  To the west there is a covered area for outdoor shower with direct access to one of the bathrooms.

The cottage is 90m2 and contains 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a daybed niche with contact to the living room located in the north half of the cottage. Kitchen and living room are located to the south, with large windows and magnificent views of the sea.

Petersen Cover 170, color C56 has been used on the facades and Petersen Cover 240, color C56 has been used on the roof. Untreated cedar wood has been used in recessed sections in the façade. Windows and doors are from Schuco. All visible concrete is cast-in-place light concrete. Inside, there is a floor in solid oak from Dinesen, there is oak paneling on the walls and there is plywood with a surface in oak in the ceiling and skirt.
