In the direction of the most awaited future 

The future of life on earth depends on architecture in a time when sea levels are rising and the population is increasing rapidly. Architecture has the power to address poverty, overcrowding, and land degradation with tactics in a definite way. New architectural technology will enable humans to survive on Earth for decades to come. Structures of tomorrow will be built with innovative materials. What aspects of today’s architecture do in the future will also be the influence of tomorrow. 

Architecture has a magical wand to wave off the unnecessary futile and to invite magical bliss for humankind.

As available technologies evolve rapidly, and their incorporation into the profession accelerates, the role of the architect is changing faster than ever before. From understanding the user to building his trust, architects evolved in phases. Where will architecture be in the future? In spite of the fact that we may not be colonizing Mars any time soon or building space stations, recent architectural trends are making us excited about the future of built environments right here on Earth.

Towards Practical Perspective

1. An Architectural Design that considers every nook 

In the context of the environment, product, and service design, Universal Design means making things accessible to all people. This results in barrier-free living environments.

Architects are familiar with the importance of designing for diverse populations. People wonder, however, if creating architecture for everyone is even possible. From the disabled to the elderly to the young, this inclusive architecture caters to everyone. The architects need to understand the barriers that different groups of people experience. An architecture that considers a different perspective will provide solutions that benefit everyone. When you challenge your idea of normal, the industry will quickly broaden the possibilities of well-designed architecture.

The main premise of Universal Design is that all people have different abilities and needs when interacting with the environment. It strives to create a positive experience for everyone. When designing for these diverse needs, an approach that is inclusive and comprehensive is preferable to catering specifically to specific disabilities. As a result, an inclusive for all space can be experienced by different eyes with different experiences, but accessible to all without hindrances 

As a global movement, it is driven by the need to do what is right in three major areas:

  1. People
  2. Environment
  3. Economy

By this approach, every user will be able to experience the design in every perspective.

2. Sustainable Approach With Green Architecture

The concept of sustainability refers to the development of products, goods, and services that meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Therefore, it is crucial that the environment and its resources are used rationally and that they are protected for the sake of our planet, the environment, humanity, and all living things. Sustainability is often associated with the environment, but it can also be explored in other contexts like economic development and social responsibility. These contexts include the Earth’s carrying capacity, the sustainability of ecosystems, occupations, and behavior patterns.

Sustainable development protects our ecosystems and preserves natural resources as well as improves our quality of life. Sustainability describes an organization’s holistic approach that involves manufacturing, logistics, and customer service. Sustainable business practices are not only good for the business, but they also maximize the benefits of being environmentally conscious over time. Our buildings not only protect us from nature’s extremes but also have a significant effect on our health and environment.  In light of the growing environmental impact of buildings, a new field known as “green building” is gaining traction. Green or sustainable, building refers to processes that are healthier and more environmentally friendly during construction, renovation, operation, maintenance, and demolition.

The benefits of green architecture are environmental, social, and economic.  From an environmental perspective, green architecture reduces pollution, conserves natural resources, and prevents environmental degradation.  As an economic benefit, it reduces the amount of money operators of the building have to spend on water and energy and increases productivity. Socially speaking, green buildings should be beautiful and cause as little strain on the local infrastructure as possible

Although survival is the most basic human goal, sustainability aims at improving living conditions for future generations. As sustainability leads to the betterment of humanity, it is one of the most important transformations of our time.

3. Vertically we can reach more scales by saving space

With a growing population, space is at a premium. In response to the shrinking liveable space problem, creative architects are exploring vertical cities. Architects becoming more space-savvy address these concerns by adding the essence of creativity. Not only from the perspective of commercial and residential space allocation but also infrastructure and public service design.

Architects and designers are increasingly tasked with redesigning spaces to do more than house innovation-related activities. Furthermore, their goals include “creating communities”, “facilitating collaboration” and “creating serendipitous encounters.”  

Adapting to the changing needs in this highly volatile and dynamic environment is fundamental for all types of innovation spaces. Together, the architectural industry can learn how to better accommodate the next generation in design. Vertical cities and vertical farming may hold the solution to our geographical problems. In recent years, vertical farming has gained popularity among the scientific community as a solution to the negative impacts of traditional agriculture on the environment. The concept of vertical cities takes high-rise urban living to a completely new level. The multi-level building is not only ideal for apartments but also for businesses and entire communities.

When researching how innovative spaces have changed over the last decade, it pointed out three general trends. In the first place, technology is increasingly pervasive, connecting people in ways they never could before (this report discusses the ever-changing role of technology later). Additionally, architects are emphasizing the need to make innovative spaces more open, transparent, and welcoming. Verticality thus has the potential to reach the sky and create a diverse experience of the space.

4. Towards Computerized Perspective

As we have moved to digital learning, let us look at the digital approach as well!

Imagine being able to observe, walk through, reach out to touch objects and watch everything around you respond in real-time. In this immersive virtual reality, these spaces are created utilizing computer graphics, wireless tracking technology, headsets, HD projectors, polarized glasses, and more, which are all used to create realistic and interactive experiences.

“VR is a huge leap forward for projects in the concept phase. Clients can see the proposed designs in their intended settings. It is very powerful.” With 3D printers combined with parametric designs and VR systems, we can surely achieve a digital future in architecture and construction.
