Rubin Family Vineyard and Winery- Sebastopol, California

Re-designing the existing barn and rustic structures into the modern winery with a lobby, offices and tasting rooms was quite a bit of a challenge, yet MBH managed to carefully bring all the touch of contemporary styling and make it respectfully co-exist with the old structures. The winery is placed within the greenery of the vineyard, with a path carved right through it for the entry. Mimicking the shape of a wine barrel, the structure is conceptualised in the form of an elliptical lobby space, around which the rest of the functional spaces are arranged. The vernacular material used- reclaimed cedar and red wood, blend well with the landscape around and provide a neutral balancing for the two functions of the spaces, namely hospitality and a working winery. Completed in the year 2015, the vineyard spreads over 11 acres, holding the winery of about 10,000 square feet.

Equinox Fitness Miracle Mile- Los Angeles, California

Converting an existing TV studio to a gym for the luxury fitness brand Equinox, MBH created poetry in white, gold and wood. With fluidly flowing walls and ceilings marked with wooden frames and glass partitions, the building now fits best in its location- Miracle Mile along Wilshire Boulevard, which holds Los Angeles’ prestigious art institutions. The spaces created include area for pilates, cycling, group fitness, and hot yoga. SPA treatment, retail spaces, children’s play area and a juice bar is also included. The structure sits in a total of 27,621 square feet.

Equinox Fitness Metro Theater- California

The iconic metro theatre of San Francisco, built in 1924, was a deco movie theatre used during the San Francisco film festival. In 2006 a change in ownership resulted in the theatre being decided to be converted to Equinox sports club. The historic features of the theatre were preserved into the new design. This includes the unique wall murals, the columns, urns, and the exterior façade- which was designated as a landmark in 2008. The colours and shades used along with the lighting design highlight and compliment the rustic features of the structure. Levels have been created independent of the walls and not tampering with the wall murals. White marble, dark wood and handcrafted iron fittings render the interiors suited to go along with the Art Deco theme of the space.

Peet’s Coffee- Nationwide

Peet’s nationwide rollout and expansion was carried out by MBH, creating a chain of high end coffee houses all throughout the country.  MBH worked in collaboration with Peet’s interior design team in completing the first location in Washington DC.  Located in the historic neighbourhood of Georgetown, the modern and trendy interiors with dark bronze, wood and bricks materials and rustic theme, merge with the vibrant and young energy of the city neighbourhood. Showcasing a green wall, paintings by a local artist and providing community gathering spaces with the utilization of different levels, the coffeehouse was bound to be a hot hangout spot in the city. This design has set tone for rest of the locations in the United States.
