1. Lorenco House, Haringey, London | PRP Architects
Consisting of a total of 52 affordable units for the elderly in Haringey, Lorenco House is an extra care housing scheme designed by PRP Architects. The design of each unit consists of public as well as private spaces for an elderly person to comfortably reside independently. The 52 units are further segregated into barrier-free one- and two-bedroom apartments. The Lorenco House has been awarded as the Winner for Smaller Scheme Award under the Knight Frank Senior Living Guide 2020 and has been shortlisted for the Best Residential Scheme under the Haringey Design Awards 2018.
2. Arden Quarter, Stratford-upon-Avon
Located on the former cattle market site, Arden Quarter provides a town center living. The Northern part of the site includes a transition in scale with two and three storey houses whereas the southern Part exhibits striking gable forms at the Alcester Road frontage. The entire structure houses 29 new units, 58 general apartments, and 102 extra care apartments. Ample space for retail and landscaping has been provided to enhance the value of the community. The Arden Quarter has been shortlisted for the Housing Design Awards 2020 and has also bagged the award for Highly Commended for the Best Scheme in Planning under the National Housing Awards 2016.
3. Ansell Court, Barnet, London
Ansell Court exhibits a contemporary quality that dwells into its surroundings looking for a series of semi-detached brick dwellings. It is located in a prime location amidst the Mill Hill neighborhood of Barnet, London. To encourage community spaces and gatherings, various facilities such as shared lounge, café, salon, seating, and other recreational spaces have been provided through its design. Ansell Court has been shortlisted for Housing Design Awards 2020 and the Best Older People’s Housing Development under the Inside Housing Development Awards 2019.
4. Arbeta, Manchester
Arbeta is the third project taken up by PRP Architects Manchester Studio that demanded a remodeling of an existing underperforming office building. The aim was to design and create work-friendly spaces that would help grow the creative as well as digital sectors. The lettable area was maximized bringing the landscaped central courtyard to use, internal courtyard walls were removed to maximize natural light. The courtyard was enclosed with an ETFE roof to provide a shared amenity and a co-working space.
5. The Sharp Project, Manchester | PRP Architects
The Sharp Project has become a hub for digital content production within Manchester. The conversion of a 250,000sq.ft warehouse into an affordable workspace with state of the art facilities has won hearts with its commendable design. With a stripped backed industrial aesthetic, the structure provides spaces for the tenants to customize and adapt as per their requirements. The Sharp Project has been rewarded as the Highly Commended in the category of Commercial Property under the RICS Awards, North West 2016, and is the winner of the National Innovation Award under the British Council of Offices 2014.
6. Limelight, Old Trafford, Manchester
Limelight resides at the heart of the Old Trafford master plan and houses 81 extra care apartments. To encourage and enhance community-level interaction amongst the tenants, various facilities such as a library, social enterprise, community café, children’s nursery, sports as well as recreational facilities have been provided. The design is mapped around two streets – ‘community street’ which has the aim of the health and wellbeing of the local people whilst a ‘residential street’ for the developmental urban surroundings. 7. Oval Quarter (Myatts Field North), Lambeth, London
PRP Architects delivered 808 new homes and 172 refurbished properties under this major regeneration project in Lambeth called the Oval Quarter. The master plan of Oval Quarter (Myatts Field North) has a well designed urban village with community facilities for the comfort and requirement of its users. The design also aims at enhancing the ecology along with the usage of new technological advancements for heat and power. The Oval Quarter (Myatts Field North) has been the winner of three prestigious architectural awards- Project Award under National Housing Awards 2017, Best Scheme in Planning under the Affordable Home Ownership Award 2012, and Best Partnership under National Housing Award 2017.
8. Bai Dao Lake, Chongqing
The amalgamation of architecture, master planning, landscape, and environmental facilities brought together the design of Bai Dao Lake at the PRP Architect’s Studio. Located at the edge of a lake close to the city of Chongqing in central China, the structure houses 400 hotel rooms and serviced apartments with lake view.
9. City Mills, Haggerston & West Kingsland Estate, Hackney, London
City Mills, Haggerston & West Kingsland Estate has been awarded as the Winner for Volume House Building under Brick Awards 2015 and Best Regeneration under National Housing Awards 2014. Hackney’s Haggerston Estate has been transformed as a regeneration project taken up by PRP Architects. They have designed a total of 761 new houses in a combination of townhouses and apartments, pedestrian pathways, garden areas, multi-storey community centers, and retail units.
10. Park Heights, Lambeth, London | PRP Architects
Park Heights has created a new landmark for Stockwell with its breathtaking views across London. PRP Architects has designed the Park Heights with an advanced mix of tenure and a material palette considering the surrounding buildings. The first experience of the user has been made dramatic by giving a double-height common entrance with communal roof terraces and high-end living facilities.
11. Smithy Croft, Heald Green, Cheshire | PRP Architects
Smithy Croft caters to the elderly living independently by providing facilities as per their comfort and needs. The design of the building has a modern approach to it but a touch of vernacular has been added to it by selecting the right materials such as Brickwork on the façade. The bricks used are secondary accent brick in a dark tone that articulates and reduces the scale of the façade. Smithy Croft has been awarded as the Winner of Housing with Care 49-99 Units under the AEC National Housing for Older People Awards 2015 and has also been shortlisted for two other prestigious architectural awards.
12. Outerspace: Space Studios, Manchester
Outerspace: Space Studios was designed by PRP Architects on a scale of 30,000 sq ft as a production stage along with individual business units. The studio has become a driving force to support the development of a cluster of businesses and their respective skilled workforce. This way the local community works in their surroundings and serves as an asset for their community. Outerspace: Space Studios has been awarded as the winner under the category of Regeneration at RICS Awards, North West 2018.
13. Farrow Court, Ashford, Kent
Designed for the Ashford Borough Council, Farrow Court is a contemporary design accommodation that brings together housing, health, and adult services. The compound houses four-building typologies: a community resource center, 84 sheltered housing units for the elderly, a recuperative care center, and 12 independent living units for the differently-abled. PRP Architects has designed the building in a way to give its users a warm, welcoming, and homely experience. Farrow Court has been shortlisted for two prestigious architectural awards and has been awarded as the winner for Best Residential (Major Site) under Kent Design and Development Awards 2018.
14. Kenavon Drive, Reading, United Kingdom
Kenavon Drive has been designed by PRP Architects as an upcoming residential quarter pays it’s respect to the Victorian heritage of the site. The firm has applied traditional brick techniques along with saw-tooth roof forms to create a unique architectural language. Kenavon Drive houses a total of 700 units making a combination of apartments, penthouses, duplexes along with recreational spaces such as café, restaurants, and parks.
15. Chobham Manor Phase 1, Olympic Park, London | PRP Architects
With over 800 house units, Chobham Manor Phase 1 stands to be the first of its kind in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. PRP Architects aimed to bring together several parcels and create spaces to expand the user group. From traditional terraced homes, mews, multigenerational homes, townhouses to apartment buildings, a variety has been created in habitable spaces to cater to the needs of each user group typology. Commercial zones and spill out areas have been provided along with ample green spaces to create a diverse environment.
