Subhedar Wada | Places to Visit near Mumbai

Ramji Mahadev Biwalkar, the Subhedar of Kalyan, constructed this Wada in 1760 to assert his authority over the region. During the years 1780–1781, this Wada hosted British accommodations. While governed by the British, it briefly functioned as a court. Around 1885, when the first Ganeshotsav (1895) and High School (1889) were founded, it began to emerge as Kalyan’s cultural center. The Wada is a stunning double-story structure with verandas on all four sides, a courtyard in the middle, and a sloping roof.

To provide extremely affordable housing for low-income groups, CIDCO Housing was built between 1988 and 1993 in the Central Business District (CBD) of Belapur in the Navi Mumbai region. The built environment consists of a collection of houses in a variety of clusters and enclosed spaces that rise from and integrate into the hillside. Raj Rewal, a well-known architect in India, designed this housing. Raj Rewal’s signature clustering of housing units may be seen in Delhi’s Sheikh Sarai Housing and Asian Games Village.
