Washington Cathedral was established on Mount St.Alab which is the highest point in the city in 1907. The design of the structure was inspired by the English Gothic style of the 14th century. The cathedral is the second largest in the United States and is built in an old manner – using artists, masons, and sculptors. The edifice signifies the construction techniques with no steel support. With seating for about 4,000 people, the cathedral extends 530ft in the form of a cross.

The Old Post office Building is the second tallest structure in the capital after the Washington Monument. On Pennsylvania Avenue, it occupies an entire city block, the link between the Capitol and the White House. Designed by Willoughby J. Edbrooke, Supervising Architect of the U.S. Treasury Department. The building exhibits Romanesque Revival style with massive scale, arched fenestration, the clock tower, and ornamentation.  The building was proposed to be knocked off, but is still surviving due to the constant efforts of the conservationists and is now regarded as a virtue along Pennsylvania Avenue.
