Along the quiet roads of Strathearn, perfectly designed to match the natural scenery, lies one of the most luxurious and beautiful hotels: Gleneagles. A grand hotel designed by the famous architect of Glasgow, Matthew Adam, and interiors by Charles W. Swanson of Edinburgh is proof of Georgian architecture still today in its elegant facade and antiquated interior.

As the visitor walks in through grand portals, they can be arrested by the fit description of oak-paneled walls with intricately decorated plaster ceilings. Cultured references are evident in the direction of the lounge, including the lounge, the sun lounge, the dining room, and the ballroom, which have the style of the ceiling coffers, cory tiled pilasters, and elegant swags, resembling eighteenth-century glory. The grand ballroom, with the help of cupolas, adds ambiance and is equipped with such engineering feats as Morton’s patent Valtor dancing floor that becomes an indelible memory for the patrons. Residents would get into the opulent apartments, and living there would be highly satisfying because of the modern comforts.

Upon the foot of the glorious stairway fronting the gigantic reception hall, visitors are guided to some 200 bedrooms, each one providing solace from daily strife. The amenities include central heating throughout the entire hotel and a swimming pool in the rear wing. The facilities ensure the guest won’t miss out on their ultimate luxurious and relaxing experience.

While the Gleneagles hotel has had extensions and constant fillings in a while, it has still managed to keep its original class and grandeur. The French Pavilion Place of the hotel is reminiscent of the railway resort hotels of Canada, in terms of the roofs and architectural features, with the overall atmosphere carrying an impression of timeless sophistication.

With the spirit of Scottish hospitality and golf course adoration, the Gleneagles Hotel, a symbol of peerless results, sits at the epicenter of the golfing world scenery in Scotland. The hotel’s deep past, together with its miraculous luxury skills, keeps attracting the guests, presenting them with an irresistible journey that wonderfully blends tradition with modernity.

However, the Old Lady, who laid the foundation for the proliferation of Scotland‘s golfing legacy, remains as vibrant to this day, attracting more guests of all ages in order for them to enjoy the luxury and the world-renowned features. Over the past years, Gleneagles Hotel has maintained its reputation as a symbol of luxury, leisure, and hospitality, swinging through the pristineness of its surroundings, unforgettable for all who had a chance to experience the splendor of the hotel.

Apart from its architecture the hotel had very close relations with sport. In 1921, Gleneagles Hotel etched its name in sporting history by hosting the inaugural international match between American and British professional golfers, laying the foundation for what would later become The Ryder Cup. Upon its grand opening on Saturday, June 7th, 1924, the hotel earned accolades from the media, being dubbed as “the eighth wonder of the world.” The renowned band leader, Henry Hall, and his ensemble graced the opening Gala Ball, marking a historic moment as the event was broadcast nationwide on BBC Radio. In 50’s, Gleneagles became a mandatory option for a high society calendar offering affluent individuals an extremely lavish lifestyle such as the London ‘season’, yachting at Cowes , polo at Deauville and throwing in golf and shoot activities at the world famous Gleneagles Resort. In 2011, a significant renovation project transformed The Clubhouse at Gleneagles, introducing a fresh Bar & Grill, now known as The Dormy, along with The Blue Bar—an inviting outdoor area perfect for savoring premium whisky and cigars amidst the picturesque surroundings. 2015 was the year when Diageo sold the Gleneagles to Ennismore, which is a pioneer of unique hospitality experiences and destinations from London. This change of era happened to be a new page of Gleneagles it shares with the Gleneagles Arena—that is 2,500 square meters state of the art events and tennis venue which is one of the secrets to its popularity as a resort for both leisure and events.
