One of the finest works of non-Scottish architect – Enric Miralles, a winning entry of a competition floated by Scottish government, Scottish parliament is a stunning example of abstract modernism. Inspired by Scottish Landscape, from the floral painting of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and forms of overturned yachts from a nearby coastline became a basis of massing. Known for its sensory experience and intrinsic details, this building is a must see in Scotland for architects.

Designed as an open floor plan layout with an undulating roof covered with grass, theMcCallandistillery is a very modest architecture designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. With its striking reference to the ancient Scottish mound structures, this marvellous piece of architecture has much more to offers than a single malt whiskey to the architects visiting this distillery.

13. SSE HYDRO (GLASGOW, SCOTLAND)

SSE hydro, a 12500-capactiy arena, designed by 1999Pritzker laurates, it is a flexible indoor venue with a range of dynamic roofing system – that is retractable. It also provides a range of different staging layouts to incorporate different purposes. With its removable seating, it can house a concert and number of a sporting event in the same arena.

14. CLYDE AUDITORIUM (GLASGOW, SCOTLAND)

Another important building that forms a part of Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, Armadillo is an auditorium with a capacity of 3,000. Sir Norman foster as the designer for this iconic Clyde auditorium. Often compared with Sydney Opera house by non-architects and viewed as an interlocking series of ship’s hulls by architect’s community, this building is the most recognisable on the Clyde side.

With its prominent wave outline and clear glass façade, Zaha Hadid, first woman architect Pritzker laurate 2004, designed this iconic Glasgow Riverside museum. The form of the building is said to be derived as a flow from the city to the river; symbolising a lively connection where the museum is an expression of both, with its one end that opens to the city and opposite one opens to the river.
