Architecture is a form of art that beautifies our cities and towns. In India, the buildings, the structure and infrastructure, and the landscaping wildly celebrate the culture and heritage of the country. Interestingly, some photographs of these marvelous and iconic buildings translate their beauty to the viewers. This is the art and expertise of architectural photographers. This article sheds light on some of India’s most well-known architectural photographers.
Bharath Ramamrutham
Bharath Ramamrutham started studying architecture in 1976. He had relocated to London to pursue his passion for architectural photography. For several years he worked in London as an architectural photographer. In 2005, he established his own publishing house ‘graf publishing Pvt. ltd.’
Rajesh Vora
Rajesh Vora is an architect based in Mumbai. He has been working as an architectural photographer for 25 years. He has been a part of several international group exhibitions, and collaborations with architects and filmmakers on various societal issues in India. His works have been showcased internationally, including in the US, Spain, Netherlands and France.
Harshan Thomson
Harshan Thomson has been practicing as an architectural photographer for 20 years. His works have been published in books and journals at a global level. He has documented works by international firms in India, Singapore, Dubai, and Thailand.
Mitul Desai
Mitul Desai is an architect and teacher based in Surat, India. He has participated in several local and global exhibitions, publications, and collaborations. He completed his M.Arch in 2008 from Washington University, St.Louis. He is also the co-founder of the architectural firm Studio ii in Surat.
Tina Nandi
Tina Nandi is a photographer based in Mumbai. She works within diverse fields, such as architecture, printmaking, and graphic design. She is also the co-founder of Love Your Parks Association, which promotes using Indian public spaces.
Randhir Singh
Randhir Singh is an architect who studied and worked in New York. He practiced as an Architect and Architectural photographer. He is currently based in New Delhi, practicing his work in photography and urbanism. His works have been exhibited in Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai and Dhaka Art Summit.
Suleiman Merchant
Suleiman Merchant is an architectural photographer based in Mumbai. He has several years of experience and expertise in architecture and interior photography. His works have been published in the Architectural Digest.
Andre Fanthome
Andre Fanthome is a renowned architectural photographer based in New Delhi. He also has won several accolades and awards. He has also won the prestigious National Academy Award. His works have been published in well-known publications like Architectural Digest, Domus, Plan , Architectural Review and Mondo Arch. His project “The Presidential Retreats of India” was commissioned to him by the Rashtrapati Bhavan of India in 2015.
Clare Arni
Clare Arni is an architectural photographer based in Bangalore. Her works have been published in well-known magazines and publications, like Harvard Design, Abitare Tatler and others. She has also exhibited her works in international exhibitions. Her works are published in Saatchi Gallery, London and Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney
Deepshikha Jain
Deepshikha Jain is a photographer based in Mumbai. She pursued her Master’s degree from Paris. She has collaborated with several publications, such as Vogue, GQ, and Architectural Digest. Her works have been published locally and internationally in India, France and the US.
Dinesh Mehta
Dinesh Mehta pursued Architecture from CEPT, Ahmedabad. He is practicing as a photographer and filmmaker in Mumbai. He has worked in various competitions and exhibitions. He is also a visiting faculty in several educational institutions and an exhibition designer.
Joginder Singh
Joginder Singh is an architect based in Delhi. His works have been published in books and journals. He is also a visiting faculty in several institutions.
Pallon Daruwala
Pallon Daruwala is a fine art photographer based in Bangalore. He pursued his education at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. He is also the first Indian member of the International Association of Architectural Photographers (IAAP).
Atul Kanetkar
Atul Kanetkar is an architect based in Pune and has experience of around 25 years. He has done several diverse projects, and his works are published in renowned architectural magazines. He has worked with the renowned Indian architect B.V.Doshi who was granted the prestigious Pritzker Award.
Badari Duddupudi
Badari Duddupudi has around 12 Years of experience as an architectural photographer. He has also worked on various construction projects as well. He is based in Mumbai and has extensive specialization in film direction and photography apart from architecture.
