The 80.5 m high building is located at 111 8th Avenue, New York City, in the United States. It was completed in 1932. An example of Art Deco has about 2,70,000 sq m of floor space. It is owned by Google at present but had Port Authority Commerce as one of its major uses back when it was built. The project was done by Lusby Simpson of Abbott, Merkt & Co.
The John Hancock Centre, located in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States, was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The office building was completed in 2015. With offices on lower floors and apartments on the higher levels, this building tapers with reduced floor plate sizes as one goes higher. The skyscraper is about 456.9 m tall. It has X-bracing on the exteriors to resist wind loads.
Built for the client, Apple Inc., this project is located in Cupertino, California, in the United States. It is a single-ring building that measures about 1 mile in circumference. The architectural firm involved was Foster + Partners. The building is intended to be one of the most energy-efficient in the world, a ‘breathing’ building.
Located at 100 King Street West, Toronto, Ontario, in Canada, this office building was completed in 1975. It has an architectural height of about 298.1 m and is 72 floors above ground. It was designed by Bregman + Hamann Architects with Edward Durell Stone. It uses white Carrara marble for exterior cladding. The office building was originally named First Bank Building.
Located in New York City, in the United States, this building has been designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates. The third-tallest building in New York City is about 395 m tall. The project has been designed not as a singular tower but as a pair of two towers. Both the towers tilt in opposite directions. Hence, one of them faces the Hudson River, and the other faces the city. It has received LEED certifications as well.
