The immersive experience that changes our perception in terms of understanding, makes a shift in the way we support our visions of the built environment and helps in learning new ideas and growing our perception through spaces can be called the art of human growth, and this blissfully comes handy while practising Architecture.

Rethinking The Future Awards 2022

Passing through the lessons that Architecture has to teach, all designers and visionaries have grown a conscious view of how they perceive, a specific image of what they want to create, and why they understand things in a particular way. It’s all a part of the learning process and a framework of the lineage of design perspective that one has grown in the creative years of experimenting and experiencing Architecture.

Technically, Perspective as a term in Architecture, is a way for representing shapes and volumes, from an observer’s point of view, and the spatial connections in two dimensions. Similarly, when we seek to define it philosophically, it fits in a picture where the subjective contexts are the elements of Architecture and the objective depictions of the concept are done by us, designers in how we assess and represent.

The important aspect of Perspective is that the subjects closer in the viewer’s cone of vision are larger, while other volumes get smaller, meeting a ‘point of perception’. It is similar to the idea where every individual develops a unique journey of revealing one’s own choice and sketching one’s voice in the aspects of architecture and design that appeals the most to them and by enlarging preferred to be closer and more important to them than other features that have only touched the surface of their interests.

Contrast of Spatial Perspective

A ‘point of Perspective’ is used to create functional representations of structures so that viewers appreciate how they appear inside and out, which is more or less similar to the way we develop our design senses by observing what’s inside and seen in outer factors. Every architect and designer has built their style with a contrast of opinions on how they see places, people or spaces before they opted the design journey.

For example, the perspective has transformed in terms of noticing the public places, as literal as they were earlier and presently, in a way how socio-economic and political factors keep affecting its development, the awe-inspiring structure of a sky-scrapper is now a model of combinations in technology which arises a question of its relevance depending upon its local context. All small and large community areas that were solely sitting there as they naturally could be, are now observed intricately to help us design better to fulfil the needs of people using it in daily routines.

A specific element such as a courtyard might have been a common recreation place before but now it’s an integral part that supports climatic transitions, gives an inorganic connection to spaces made with socio-cultural beliefs and which lets us celebrate and rejuvenate ourselves and people. On a larger scale, a courtyard fits perfectly as an open public space similar to urban squares or plazas, connecting small and large solid built structures to necessary open voids of a city.

Well, you already know, the list goes on and things only get better in a process of deriving meanings of design. Through the changing perspective on how and what we learn, it helps us to work upon a multitude of ideas and concepts for the better unfolding of a more functional deed.

Architects are All-rounders

The ability to understand the human behavioural patterns and the underlying psychological reasons were always embossed in this profession, which helped the designs of spaces to be safer, comfortable and in proportions, where a human being can sensibly be a part of a larger community or society. Initially, the utility spaces like railway stations, waterfronts, parks, plazas or museum atriums were merely functional spaces for their respective needful purposes.

However, now the spaces have changed with a detailed perspective through different lenses such as response by its possibilities of functions, its feasibility for different age groups for a certain time-frame of the day and the reactions for the intended purpose behind the designing of space, to mention a few.

The spaces are not just the physical envelope of the built environment but connect on a deeper level with all beings. Such realisation happens once in a while when we recognise that Architecture is everywhere. It has always been the extended version of Art where the concept manifests itself as a physical entity. The amalgamation of ancient history, many art forms, technologies and theories have shaped our lives, the architecture of cities and the social system we reside in.

Just like all these factors, architectural spaces and elements have a major impact on creating all expressions and realizing them into a spatial, bodily and timeless perspective of a human mind.
