The client desired to have a mere contemporary house, catering basic needs in defined spaces. Amidst the farmland only a fraction of site is taken for the building and the rest is elegantly landscaped with outdoor activities. The predominant requirement was to have a G+1 structure with 4BHK, a semi private lounge and a huge gathering zone where the client could host a party or function.
The house has a long wide approach from the entry, which is neatly paved with landscape lightings on both side delineating walkway and lawn. At the entrance of the house, one could see a courtyard, designed in a greeting manner which also acts as a foyer. The courtyard, leads to a double height living room, in the ground floor, which extends into kitchen and dining on its east and bedrooms on its west. In the first floor, bedrooms are repeated in the west and a bar lounge with indoor play placed in the east. These two zones are well connected through a transition corridor. The terrace floor has a room extension and open terrace which is lined with planter box towards the front façade.
The kadapa stone is used in entrance walkway as pavers in grid pattern with the green grass as spacer in between. The outdoor leisure zone is has a voluminous swimming pool at the center with covered seating and a fire place on either side. These outdoor activities are well connected with aptly landscaped pavements with planters all around.
The materials employed in the building, were carefully chosen in order to blend design with the site context. The grey texture paint covers the entire building in order to present a grotto like structure nestling elegantly in the farm. The random placement of jally wall in the building punctures act as a contrast to the grey mass. In addition the usage of Kota stone in the feature wall also supplements the design. The immense clarity and understanding had on the design thus revealed in the contemporary building done in an earthy language.
