The project opens up a side extension to a kitchen and maximises space by connecting the newly enlarged kitchen with the existing cellar space – the cellar space provides a walk-in pantry and storage area while leaving the main kitchen and c open and free for entertaining.
Natural light is maximised by inserting a large glass rooflight (which also raises the constrained ceiling height which was kept low to avoid a clash with the windows of the reception rooms half a storey up) and through a large bi-fold door to the rear.
A strong colour palette, influenced by the owners, finishes a distinctive and bright kitchen while contrasting black bricks on the outside wall frames the extension against the existing house.
