The villa’s exterior, crafted from beige and white sandstone paired with exposed architectural concrete, highlights its understated elegance. Expansive shaded glazing, spacious balconies, and beautifully landscaped courtyards merge the indoor and outdoor spaces, promoting a sense of unity with nature.
A grand entrance plaza beneath a sweeping canopy is an inviting feature, while a linear wall with selective openings creates a subtle sense of mystery by concealing the garden. Inside, a double-height vestibule divides the public and private areas, its stark architecture enhanced by striking murals. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living and dining rooms offer sweeping views of the lush garden, further connecting the interiors to the outdoors.
The interiors mirror the villa’s modern minimalist approach, featuring clean lines, a neutral color palette, and an open floor plan. Natural materials such as wood and stone introduce warmth, while a clutter-free design focuses on functionality. Italian marble flooring and minimalistic furnishings are accented by artwork and signature light fixtures that add a touch of sophistication. The living room, with bold black upholstery complemented by colorful throws and cushions, strikes a balance between elegance and comfort. Large windows frame the garden, filling the space with natural light. The outdoor patio, complete with inviting furniture, sets the stage for al fresco dining and gatherings, while the backyard pool provides a serene spot for relaxation.
Sustainability is central to the villa’s design, incorporating eco-friendly materials, cavity walls, and energy-efficient systems like solar panels and LED lighting. The landscaping features native plants and low-maintenance greenery that complement the architectural forms, while existing trees are preserved through clever design solutions like a cut-out in the first-floor terrace slab.
Lakhani Villa masterfully combines the raw power of brutalist architecture with a sense of lightness and openness. The bold use of concrete and sandstone is softened by the abundance of natural light and open spaces, creating a distinctive living environment that is both substantial and uplifting.
