The accent colors of the interior are chosen not by chance. Red – reference to the mill Moulin Rouge and red wine. Complementary red mint – color of forged arches in the style of art-nouveau Paris metro and neva Grand Palais. Black is the main color of French style, reminiscent of Chanel.

The entire interior features a striped print in different proportions: in the wardrobe, on the floor in the hallway, and in the bathroom. Maintains the rhythm already in the living room elegant sofa, which at a certain point of view can ironically compete with the beach suit movie star on the poster. In addition to accent colors in the interior striped print is an important element that brings together all areas of the apartment.

“We were inspired by the work of the French sculptor and artist Daniel Buren, which is in the heart of Paris, in the courtyard of the Palais-Royal. «Two levels» (fr. Les Deux Plateaux) is a sculptural composition of 260 striped cut columns of varying heights, made of concrete and marble. We wanted to emphasize the idea that, as in Paris, centuries-old history and architecture can be accommodated with modern art, so in the contemporary interior are easily juxtaposed romantic French chairs from the cafe and, for example, plastic ironic Kartell objects. Having discovered such meanings for ourselves, we tried to realize them, to interpret a distant echo through lines, volumes, color”.

Perhaps the most difficult condition in this project was a limited budget and time. It was important to place on a small enough area kitchen and living room, bedroom with  working area, bathroom and maximum storage space.

So, one of the main characters of the bedroom became wardrobe. Black-and-white graphics turned the storage area into an art object – art in everyday life. To paint the walls inside the wardrobe, we invited the artist Elena Morozova, who was inspired by the drawing of fabric for the lampshade. As a result, this handmade object has become another elegant attraction.

It is the hand-authored work that adds coziness and individuality to the apartment. All items: mirror in the hall, puff, desk, console, sofa and restored vintage chairs made to order by local craftsmen.
