Established in 1993, Dipen Gada and Associates is an architectural and interior design firm based in Vadodara, Gujarat. The firm was initiated by Dipen Gada, a Civil Engineer who chose architecture as a profession through passion. Although the firm had its humble beginnings with interior design, Dipen Gada’s attention to detail and constant search for knowledge made it grow and establish a mark in society. The firm is known to create “innovative, minimalistic and timeless design” that focuses on aspects of functionality and aesthetics. The residence features a striking entrance in a non-conventional way through a recessed entrance with two cuboidal masses and a water body placed along two sides of a central axis. The house features a play of shadow and light through the use of corten steel jaali and perforated bricks on metal rods placed at various locations and creates a dynamic space. The fenestrations used are functional in terms of reducing the internal heat and increases ventilation.

The commercial building houses an electronic shopping complex with four other showrooms and office spaces. The exterior form is a derivative of the climatic conditions where the wall is built in a zigzag pattern with a combination of 14-inch thick south-west cavity wall insulating the internal area and curtain walls in a north-eastern direction to allow the passage of light into space. The interior space adapts to the industrial theme with a double-height display area.

The single-storied structure with its minimalistic sense is brought to life with the presence of art. Various sculpted human figures interacting with nature with a textured wall as a backdrop forms the exterior feature of the house. The residence incorporates a terrace garden which unifies with its surrounding landscape built with lawns and creates a seamless effect. The interior of the space features a balance of simplicity and grandeur through its volume and use of material.

4. Concept 1 Gym

Project Type: Commercial Interior
Carpet Area: 5500sft
Location: Manjalpur area, Vadodara, Gujarat

The interior design of the gymnasium is purely a response to existing building conditions. Space is created to give a rustic feel with exposed beams and electrical conduits with rustic and matt-finished flooring.

The ceiling space is painted with bold madder red paint to tackle the effect of low height and create an impact.  To further improve the quality of space, the equipment is placed strategically facing the eastern window to receive morning sunlight.

5. Mansukh Rojiwadia Penthouse | Dipen Gada and Associates

The interior is designed to create a simplistic palette of white, grey, and ash wood contrasted with sophisticated artifacts and vibrant upholstery. The entrance is enhanced with a passage that divides the living room and has Italian marble flooring laid in a herringbone pattern that leads towards a life-sized bronze sculpture. The grandeur of the space is enriched with the use of double-height volume in the dining area, ornamented with a multi-tiered chandelier.

6. DGA Office

Project Type: Commercial Architecture
Office area = 1000sft
Location: Vadodara, Gujarat

The Architect’s own office is renovated to accommodate a large number of staff and is structurally redesigned to create openness by breaking the walls and slabs. The quality of space is further enhanced by the creation of a vertical slit opening on the wall that continues to slab which is covered with glass. The use of the water body over the glass slab with bright-colored flower petals brings drama to space throughout the day.

7. Madhav

The project devotes its respect to nature with the incorporation of existing trees located on-site which forms an inevitable part of the house. The presence of 20 trees on-site influenced the design to be built along the vertical axis to retain a maximum number of trees. The entrance features a cantilevered terrace where the foliage of the trees forms a part of the garden.

8. Lambhvella Home

The contemporary structure is built in a white rectangular concrete frame whose entry is marked through the presence of a lily pond with fountains on either side. Considering the climatic aspect, most of the activities are placed facing towards the eastern side. Every space is created with a strong link to nature through the use of perforated walls and skylights.

9. The Bath World (TBW) Vadodara

Project Type: Commercial Interior

Location: Vadodara, Gujarat

The theme of space is designed with the prime focus on the highlight of the products. Hence rustic dark black slate flooring with a wine-painted ceiling acts as a backdrop against the light-colored product which is treated like a star. Sculptures and paintings that are strategically placed add to the artistic value of the space.

10. The Cube | Dipen Gada and Associates

Project Type: Residential Architecture

Location: Vadodara

Inspired by the concept of a cube, the form of the building is an amalgamation of various recesses and reliefs which is masked with a combination of white smooth plastered wall and grey exposed RCC. Continuity of space is achieved from exterior to interior through the use of the same color pallet of the exterior. Built as an open plan, the contrast in flooring demarcates the space psychologically and the furniture divides the space physically.

11. Fiorella Italian Restaurant

Location: Vadodara

The restaurant design is a part of the renovation and extension of the existing hotel. The space is divided into three segments hosting Italian, Indian, and multi-cuisine separately, with three different types of ambiance. The Italian section is dressed with earthy and rustic texture whereas the Indian section is highlighted with wood finishes and lamps. The semi-open space is shielded with a pergola on top which is covered with wavy curtains forms the entrance feature.

12. Linear House

Project Type: Residential Architecture

Location: Anand Gujarat

The simplistic character of the residence is brought in through minimal use of furniture and subtle material pallet. The residence is designed with two major zones – public and private zones, which are segregated through intermediate spaces such as courtyard, doubly loaded aisle, and staircase. The house opens up and connects to nature through the use of jaali walls which also creates a dynamic pattern of shadows within the house.

13. The Wall House

Location – Bharuch, Gujarat

The house is designed to harmoniously connect the exterior space to its interior. The exterior façade features a 34 feet high wall with raw Kota stone cladding which also forms a part of the interior and segregates the spaces within. Inside-out architecture can be observed through French windows, diagonal slit windows, and courtyard that connects the spaces to its exterior surroundings.

14. Mangla Office

The interior of the office is designed with the idea of bringing playfulness to the rigid office atmosphere. This is achieved through the creation of a central multi-purpose space that forms the main feature.

Cut-slab in the shape of Eucalyptus leaf with pergolas and acrylic over the multi-purpose halls creates a pattern of shadows that changes with time. Indigo blue oxide flooring contrasts the space and controls excessive light from the roof.’

15. Courtyard House | Dipen Gada and Associates

Project Type: Residential Architecture

The building is designed considering the climatological aspects and has been derived as an introverted style with a central courtyard. Apart from passive cooling, the courtyard is featured with jaali work, pergola, and multicolored Kota flooring with a contrasting backdrop of the smooth plain wall. The house incorporates an Indian contemporary style of architecture.
