Luxury Housing and Resort Living

Introduction

With advancing age, people are looking for places to escape from the everyday hubbub of life. Here comes resort living, also called luxury housing. Luxury housing provides high-quality living not only in size but also with several amenities. Along with lavish living conditions, these luxury housing developments include various activities to keep visitors engaged and socially active. The resort living experience gives pleasure, with all the amenities available to visitors. One can truly experience an environment of shared community and a fine living environment. Living in luxury housing also provides closeness to the natural environment, focusing on sustainability. This type of living is generally indigenous, allowing the inhabitants to have the opportunity to connect with their natural environment.

Some of the basic characteristics of luxury housing are:

1. LOCATION: As humans, we crave a life with comfort and easy access to the necessities. Don’t we? Thus comes the role of location. It plays quite an important role in luxury housing, as it defines the neighborhood and surroundings of the living area. Choosing a lively and active neighborhood adds to the profile of the housing. While considering the location in case of resort living, it is ensured that the location is apt for the inhabitants. The housing should be in proximity to all the basic requirements of the visitors or inhabitants.  
3. SPACE: One looks for comfortable living in a building with sufficient space. It is one of the chief features of luxury housing. Areas with efficient maneuvering spaces are one of the features seen in most luxury housing. There are spaces in luxury housing that can have different uses or are convertible. Nowadays, convertible bedrooms are in use, where one room can be converted to a study space or a bedroom. These types of spaces with lavish interior settings are in great demand in resort living cabins or small cottages.

   INTERIOR DESIGN: One of the most eye-catching features of luxury homes is their interior design. These spaces in the building are designed intricately to relate the space to the whole project. In this way, interior planning defines the theme of the project. Then, gradually, the decoration, furniture, and other interior elements related to the theme are added. These things very much affect the impact of an area and define the role of the project as a whole. 

5. MATERIALS AND QUALITIES: Using materials with good finishes is one of the chief features of luxury housing. These homes make sure to reflect their quality in the smallest of details, which are quite visible to the visitor’s eyes. These materials provide aesthetics to the interiors. If we look at the flooring or just the wall finishes of these interior elements, we can easily find the impact these materials have on the interiors.
6. SUSTAINABILITY: The luxury housing developments now have a common goal of respecting the environment and maintaining a perfect balance. People now use various sustainable materials and techniques to make a project eco-friendly, also allowing natural ventilation and light. Naturally altering the interior atmosphere is one of the main aims of maintaining sustainable living in the apartments. The use of natural and sustainable energies in houses makes living quite comfortable and eco-friendly.

Thus, these characteristics, if followed, constitute comfortable living in luxury housing. With time, various luxurious projects come up, which are also promoted by the locals and the government to encourage tourism. Some of the examples of such projects are:

1. TWIN FARMS, VERMONT: Twin Farms is a resort nestled in the countryside of Vermont in the United States. This serene resort has a total of 20 cottages designed as per the visitors’ needs. There are various activities included in the resort like private dining, deep forest picnics, mountainside skiing, and many more. The project is efficiently designed, accompanied by lavish and planned interiors and rich contemporary art installations. The recreational activities included in this project are based on the seasons such as Archery, bee tour, and cycling, which are the activities that are active in the summer or spring season. While snowboarding, skiing, and tire biking are the activities followed in winter.

   KALDAN SAMUDRA PALACE, INDIA: Kaldan Samudra is one of the finest luxury resorts in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. Despite being located in another state, this resort displays the Rajasthani culture. The project is located on a vast property of 10 acres and actively encourages the Rajasthani culture. Samudra Palace is a beautiful amalgamation of  Rajasthani art, culture, and architecture. The name of the resort itself means – “An Immortal Place” which is apt because it describes the palace and its ambiance. The resort glorifies art and culture through the work of skilled artisans, sculptors, and builders.    HURAWALHI ISLAND RESORT, MALDIVES: Amidst the serene beauty of the Maldives, Hurawalhi Island resort is located amidst the clear blue waters of the Maldives. These resorts are designed while keeping in mind to provide a completely natural experience for the visitors. This resort provides a full-fledged experience of Maldives with amazing beaches, comfortable interiors intermingled with several outdoor activities. There are many villas too included in this luxurious housing project. Some of the villas are named – Ocean Pool villas, with interior spaces connected to an infinity pool, Beach Sunset Villas, – With an open sitting deck providing a full view of beautiful sunsets, and many others. These resorts are accompanied by beautiful interiors and various luxuries. There is also a restored barn, with all the accommodations being provided in this resort project. This barn gives the pleasure of serene views of Montana Town. This barn was built in the 19th century and was considered a country home. It provides a whole countryside aura with a rustic, vintage look. Other than the barn and the resorts, there are also private cabins built amidst the Rock Creek valley, ideal for multi-family stays. A minimalist and beautiful interior with trail access and a stress-free group getaway all add up to the beauty of this resort. Other than this the whole area of this resort consists of lodging, trails, a fishing center, beaches, clubs, and many others.

Impact of Luxury Housing

If we look into the development and maintenance of a resort in a given area, one can easily point out its positive sides. The encouragement of resort development helps in uplifting the residents of the given area economically, as well as, socially. This practice also encourages the involvement of locals in encouraging their own art and culture. In this way, the Tourism industry sees the best result as it increases the tourist influx. Nowadays, people look for places like these for weekend getaways. Following sustainability as one of their main characteristics, resorts promote eco-friendly living and are concerned with maintaining a balance in the environment without degrading it. 

One of the best examples of the impact of resort development on society is seen in Hawaii. Now, a major part of the economy of Hawaii depends on the resort living project, which also promotes tourism. There was a time when there was no proper source of income for the people of Hawaii. The trend came into view in the 1960s when tourism started to bloom and the time finally came when the major source of income shifted from agriculture to tourism. The same trend is now slowly gaining momentum in other places and countries too.
