The task was to renovate this mid-century post and beam structure on Lake Washington in Bellevue, WA. While dated, the house boasted “good bones.” Hence, I opted to retain much of the original structure, updating it with contemporary colors, textures and materials.

Carolyn Adams Architect PLLC

Carolyn brings over 30 years’ experience collaborating with clients, consultants and contractors on health care, mixed-use, retail, interiors, stage design, commercial, and residential projects. In recent years she has specialized inthe small project, including new and renovated housing and equine facilities.

She received an AB degree in Architecture from UC, Berkeley, an MFA in Stage Design from Southern Methodist University, and an MS in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University.

Carolyn is a member of the AIA Small Project Practitioners Advisory Group, a current member and past chair of the City of Kirkland, WA Design Review Board and  an independent advisor to Suncadia Residential Owners Association.
