The Pink Zebra, aka Feast India Co., was built by Renesa Architecture Design Interiors Studio in Kanpur, India with the purpose to create “a complex and contradictory architecture based on the richness and ambiguity of old and modern experience including that very experience which is inherent in art.”

Based on the restaurant’s name alone, expect stripes… and the colour pink. Lots of it. The striking colour palette is enough to bring a smile to one’s face. And it would definitely earn a thumbs-up from Wes Anderson; the clients’ love for the director’s quirky work inspired the space’s design.

According to the architects, “The love for extremes symmetry and restricted colour palettes can often give the expression of a surreal, self-contained world but adding that certain bizarre element to break that monotony of Wes’s spatial ideology came through the black and white zebra lines dipping themselves in the pink monotone set in the British Raj’s colonial order.” This definitely makes it to our India go-to list.
