Designed by architect Sandra Sayeg, VH Residence reflects a young couple’s aspiration for
a cozy yet functional home that maintains a strong bond with nature. Initially conceived for phased expansion, the decision to complete the project in one go enhanced construction efficiency and future livability. The use of a metal framework and steel deck system was chosen not only for its precision and swift execution but also for its aesthetic value, adding a sense of lightness to the overall architectural design.

The residence is structured in an “H” format, allowing all rooms to open towards the garden, reinforcing an ongoing dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces. The kitchen, a central gathering spot, mirrors the clients’ lifestyle by seamlessly linking to the living and dining areas, as well as the barbecue space and a vegetable garden. A distinctive feature of the home is the staircase, which also serves as a translucent wine cellar, preserving spatial fluidity and visual continuity. The layout was carefully crafted to encourage social interaction, making it ideal for hosting friends and family.

Material selection plays a fundamental role in shaping the home’s identity. A refined palette dominated by natural materials highlights wood as a defining element. The uninterrupted Tauari wood ceiling enhances spatial cohesion and warmth, while pigmented concrete walls and microcement flooring on the ground level contribute to the residence’s modern aesthetic. The contrast between Cumaru wood lattice screens and the metal framework ensures both privacy and openness by filtering light in a balanced way. Outdoor pergolas, featurin sections covered with glass and straw, create dynamic lighting effects, enriching the space with natural interplay between light and shadow.

Designed to balance practicality and serenity, the upper floor accommodates four suites,
including one designated for the couple’s future child. Circulation areas were efficiently
planned, integrating communal spaces such as the upstairs office, which makes effective
use of an otherwise transitional area. Bathrooms follow the same design philosophy,
incorporating frosted glass partitions that preserve privacy while maintaining an open and
airy ambiance.

The outdoor area extends the architectural experience, with lush landscaping
complementing the striking swimming pool, strategically positioned for visibility from multiple vantage points inside the house. The terrace serves as a natural extension of the social area, strengthening the seamless connection between interior and exterior environments.

The furniture selection followed an organic process, with the residents collaborating with
Bossa Arquitetura to curate pieces that embody their personal style. Architectural elements
guided the arrangement of furnishings, lighting, and finishes, ensuring that the interiors
authentically express the project’s essence without unnecessary excess.
