Set in Old Montreal’s historic industrial sector of Faubourg des Récollets, a historic area dating back to New France, 620 Saint-Paul St. W. is an urban architectural renewal which both preserves and expands on the John Lysaght Limited Building that was originally built in 1904.

Preserving three historic existing façades, the project’s sustainable and architectural strategies integrated a contemporary volume which expands its height with an entirely new concrete and wood structure, a nod to the foundries, lumberyards, and craftsmen that once called the area home.

Now a place of both modernity and heritage, the interiors feel just as warm as the workshop it once was with black spruce imparting a softened atmosphere with light tones and smooth yet stark textures.
