Cocoon Hotel&Resort consists of 46,181 m2 distributed in 3 residential buildings and 2 “COCOON” hotel buildings with 204 apartments and 167 rooms, as well as 16 private villas.
The project brings together magnificent and unique experiences for the guest, who can fully enjoy and feel the nature of the Mexican jungle.
The guest can feel completely in the jungle with the luxury spaces specially integrated in the open air for leisure and its relaxing and regenerating stay that allows them to enjoy without restrictions and with the impressive views that they give in observing the virgin fauna. All these elements manage to create a wide visual environment to recreate in project language, in eco-sustainable materials and organic forms, for a biomimetic architecture.
DNA’s goal is to find the balance between mind-body-soul to provide a true escape from everyday life, leaving you to enjoy
with the maximum disconnection and relaxation in the spa-wellness, saunas and community pools have been carefully developed to form an important part of the project.
The main idea is to create COCOON, like a bird’s nest, that is embracing a “Cenotes” – a sinkhole flooded with fresh water and with an open sky, allowing you to feel fully embraced by the jungle and submerge yourself to know the true rituals of the Mayans, the oldest population in Mexico.
DNA presents its relevance in the concept of sustainability respecting the ecosystem and the biodiversity of the fauna, contributing to the use of natural materials specifically from the area, which have been used in this project such as bamboo and behuco, which minimize the impact of construction and waste generation. The concept of water harvesting is also respected and represents a recovery of river water. Solar panels are implemented to achieve sustainable electricity. Finally, the “dry” construction system is used, that is, without wet binders, shorter execution time and greater safety and sustainability.
