Alcala de Henares is a city located in the northeast of Madrid, near the Henares river, in Spain. The city’s origins date back to Roman times when it was a small settlement on the banks of River Henares. The area was destroyed, rebuilt and reconstructed multiple times. The city contains many examples of Gothic architecture. One of them is the church of San Justo. It is also home to the University of Alcala de Henares, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
