This private house rises with grandeur amidst the bustling lanes of South Delhi, exhibiting its magnanimous beauty, enticing shine, and crisp features in a lush vegetation setting. This recently built residential beauty, spanning 700 square yards in Delhi’s GK residential sector, was envisioned and constructed by Workshop for Metropolitan Architecture (WMA).
Project Name: The Reflection of Finesse in a Sophisticated City Villa
Studio Name: WMA

The house has a spacious living and dining room, three comfortable bedrooms, a cosy lounge, a kitchen, and a huge terrace. In accordance with Delhi’s legislative framework, a designated parking level within the stilt zone is built, complete with a unique lobby area and a private lift that serves as the principal access point to the main home.

The exterior of this remarkable construction was designed in a way that deviated from standard modern or classical designs, avoiding uniform geometry and excessive embellishment. The designers produced a dramatic yet modest aesthetic by integrating mild angles, tapering surfaces, and layering. They selected solid 3mm porcelain tiles in matte and glossy textures to assure durability and low maintenance, while the limited colour palette of beige and brown lent timeless sophistication to the design’s skin. Furthermore, the coves formed on the property surfaces make it simple to clean the tapering surfaces while also improving the aesthetic appeal during the twilight hours.Ar. Bhuvan Kapila and Ar. Gangandeep Dua Kapila imagined a dazzling and lavish mansion in response to the client’s request.

The home’s entrance is thus greeted by a lovely foyer with cosy beige veneer panelling. An intentional flooring pattern was created to provide seamless continuity throughout the vertical wall panelling surfaces and door faces, integrating all common spaces on the floor. Despite their variations, these spaces are linked, giving an immersive experience as you go through the house. The design language emphasises the use of gold and turquoise in metal accent motifs seen above elevators, on the entry rug, and as a component of art pieces throughout the hallways. Abstract art has a strong presence of vivid, vibrant colours, which creates a lively and invigorating environment in this transitional area.
