The Hillcrest Residence was designed with XTEN architects and Schoos Design.
The landscape played a major role in the success of the residence, as the backyard of the property was surrounded by a massive and unsightly hill covered with dirt spots and ivy.

The client was keen on taking advantage of the timeline of construction and we convinced them to plant early in the process. The Olive Trees and Hillside plantings were prioritized at the beginning of the construction schedule to allow for a mature landscape at project completion.
Guests experience the site by driving up a private driveway with architectural planting, into a gated entrance courtyard. The pace slows for the procession on pedestal pavers over water, as you approach the grand side pivot entrance door.
The elegance of the architecture provided the opportunity for uninterrupted connections of the wet edge pool, spa and distant views from the back yard through the core of the residence. The spa is placed to experience the city views, surrounded with sculpture plantings and easy access from the master bedroom.
The backyard opens into a gracious limestone pool lounge and garden, filled with Cercidium trees in architectural planters. The Olive grove and drought tolerant plantings create an amphitheater of green providing textural changes and complete privacy.
