Subtle yet defined, the language of architecture and interior is drawn upon the fundamentals of simplicity. Textured white walls interplay with cobalt blue windows framing dramatic arch ways and warm tones emanating from terracotta surfaces – this design framework is inspired by our take on a traditional Goan Home and brought together using clean lines and minimal ornamentation, evoking a sense of light and airy spaciousness.
Natural light permeates each aspect of the house, giving rhythm to different hours of the day; enhanced by diaphanous drapes, weaves of texture and smooth natural wood surfaces.
The house relies heavily on the layering of textures-cane, rattan, solid wood, lime plastered surfaces, patterned tiles-all interspersed with natural materials to imbue authentic and relaxed vibes into spaces; earthy neutrals and earthy browns are softened with bright pops of crisp whites and deep blues hinting to an Indo-Portuguese past.
Landscaped perimeters, open verandahs, secluded sits out decks extend the homes character into its outdoors. Tropical planters in varied shades of lush green embrace the villa, making it a green dwelling that creates moments of quietude. A patterned poolside deck with gentle ambient lighting and arches creates a calming extension from day time to evenings.
The sleeping quarters embody comfort and intimacy with warmth of wood grain for furnishings and woven detailing for cabinets paired against high vaulted bamboo ceilings; meanwhile bathrooms designed with a minimalist organic feel bring the outside in, accentuating subtle sculptural forms, textures and natural stones-aiming to craft intimate bathing experiences as opposed to a stark space. Rather than opulence and complexity, the dwelling places emphasis on character and emotion-a home that feels at once natural, nostalgic and intrinsic to its environs; capturing the pulse of the Goan landscape through refined yet restrained expression.
