Since the client – a young family of four – loves light, airy and clean spaces, Suvidha Gandhi of PaperSky Studio, wanted to create a young and modern space with a Goan vibe. They decided to create a coastal look using different tones of wood with white as a constant backdrop.

With this canvas, the entire home came together in shades of blues, greens, creams, ivory and beige colours; while stripes, soft florals, birds, coconut trees, palm prints, etc. were incorporated in furnishings and wall art. Suvidha created a raw look and feel by making the walls uneven to accentuate the cottage vibe.
To capture that laid-back coastal essence, a layered aesthetic was created through rugs of jute, sisal, etc. placed on textured natural stone floor, sunlight streaming through gauzy curtains in colours the mimic the natural hues found at the beach. Though splashes of navy or coral add depth and interest, she has used them sparingly to maintain a subdued and relaxing ambiance.
Earthy tones, sun-kissed spaces and the light airy ambiance, all perfectly blend for the tranquil and easy-on-the-eye design of the villa.
