Slender House is a five-person family-only private house project set on a narrow plot of land that is six metres by eighteen metres. The idea behind this house was to design a place that blended in with the surroundings while simultaneously being unique within its neighbourhood. The architects prioritised careful design over large square footage in order to create a home that felt deeply connected to the family’s daily lives.

Design Concept
The aim of Slender House is to strengthen ties within the family unit. Every cutout and skylight has two functions: they provide interaction opportunities in addition to lighting the area. These design elements create connections within the house, whether it’s a glance between floors or a ray of sunlight delicately entering a common space.

The main idea of Slender House was to employ carefully placed skylights and staggered cutouts to open up the building’s form. These architectural features give the house a feeling of openness and light, even with its small size. In order to create a place that profoundly resonated with the client’s lifestyle, the architects welcomed the concept of sacrificing total floor area.

Conclusion
More than just a place to live, Slender House is an intelligent investigation of the enormous potential that can arise from a little footprint. Every detail, from the way light and shadow dance along its walls to the soft breeze whispering down its hallways, has been carefully designed to enhance the lives of those who live there. Slender House is an extraordinary yet modest house that aims to redefine urban living by emphasising the value of a family’s core values.
