With a precondition of the pitched roof section the roof top lounge has been conceptualized as an all oak wood clad box. This is undoubtedly the highlight of the project. The use of light wood tones punctuated with cool blues and fresh yellows gives the space a sense of freshness by day and a much desired lounge like vibe by night. In contrast to the upper floor the aesthetics of the lower floor have been kept muted. Plentiful use of whites, light grey tones, large fluted sliding room dividers and textured fabrics in the soft furnishings generate a calm and laid back ambience. Strategically placed artwork in a mix of vibrant hues and stark black and white graphics compliment and add character to the house.

The vision for the project was to achieve an aesthetic that is fairly casual. Use of cool tones in materiality, contrasting with vibrant colours in the artwork generates an informal vibe that allows the end user to be creatively charged. The project acts like a tropical urban oasis– A watering hole for creative minds within the family and the extended friend circle to engage in progressive conversations pertaining to the arts.

More than challenges the planning strategy involved in opening up the spaces to create a sense of fluidity. The upper lounge needed serious and careful remodeling to transform it into a space flooded with natural light and commanding views of the city and outdoor terrace.

The project is a myriad of light wood tones, matt grey flooring tiles, and fluted glass sliders stained black oak wood for the staircase to terrazzo flooring in the upper lounge area.

At ADND the design narrative has always been to create spaces that have a sense of simplicity. We strongly believe in working around a client’s functional brief. The project in its completion is a strong amalgamation of the clients wise list, our interpretation of the same and a self-critical constantly evolving design ethos.
