Rather than relying on overt ornamentation, it embraces an understated elegance that allows tradition to be experienced with quiet sophistication.
The homeowners envisioned a space that would honour Indian heritage without feeling nostalgic or dated. Responding to this brief, the design establishes a careful balance between openness and intimacy, creating interiors that feel expansive yet deeply personal. Every room is guided by the philosophy of quiet luxury, where richness emerges through tactile materials, artisanal detailing, and thoughtful composition rather than excess.
The journey begins at the entrance, where hand-painted motifs on the foyer console and living room wall reinterpret traditional Indian art through a contemporary lens. Chintz, a textile deeply rooted in India’s craft legacy and later embraced globally, reappears in the form of Ritu Kumar’s elegant drapery, reconnecting the home with its textile heritage while lending the interiors a timeless sense of authenticity.
Materiality forms the foundation of the home’s narrative. Bespoke teak furniture, handcrafted décor, curated artworks, and finely detailed accessories come together in a cohesive composition that celebrates craftsmanship. Zari embroidery, handwoven fabrics, and carefully layered textures introduce warmth and understated richness, allowing each space to unfold with depth, character, and a distinctly tactile quality.
In the dining room, a striking Pichwai artwork by Kalakari Haath becomes the visual focal point, anchoring the space with cultural significance while elevating the dining experience. The kitchen introduces a lighter, fresher palette through soft sage cabinetry paired with aqua glass tiles, creating an inviting environment where heritage-inspired aesthetics seamlessly coexist with contemporary functionality.
The children’s bedroom continues the home’s artistic language through a bespoke hand-painted feature wall that brings warmth and individuality to the space. Its playful yet sophisticated palette deliberately moves beyond conventional gender associations, creating a room that feels inclusive, expressive, and timeless.
Within the master suite, the design language evolves into one of quieter refinement. A handcrafted teak bed anchors the room with natural warmth, complemented by sculptural lighting, an intricately carved dressing unit, and richly layered textiles. Together, these elements create a calming retreat where material richness and soft illumination foster an atmosphere of comfort and intimacy.
The guest bedroom echoes this philosophy through restrained detailing and artisanal craftsmanship. A hand-carved teak bed, brass Moroccan lighting, and delicate lilac-and-white drapery transform an otherwise low-light space into a serene and welcoming retreat.
Throughout the residence, styling plays an integral yet understated role in shaping the overall experience. Every artwork, textile, light fixture, and decorative object has been thoughtfully curated to reinforce the home’s cohesive narrative.
