In the heart of Pune, a home stands as a beautiful example of modern design meeting functional elegance. With a deep understanding of contemporary aesthetics, Siddhina Sakla of The Arch Studio transformed this space into a serene and luxurious living environment that would appeal to a broad range of tastes.

The project posed a unique challenge: to create a stylish, comfortable home within a tight timeline and using pre-existing finishes. However, the constraints were seen not as limitations, but as opportunities for creativity. The result is a refined blend of muted tones, organic textures, and personalised touches that effortlessly combine minimalism with warmth, offering a perfect example of how smart design can elevate everyday living.

At the core of the household, the living room embodies the spirit of minimalistic luxury that The Arch Studio is known for. Upon entry, you’re welcomed by a warm, inviting space that feels expansive and intimate. The organic-shaped, custom-designed three-seater sofa anchors the room, paired with detailed accent chairs that add character. The room is bathed in natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, with a low-hanging chandelier casting a soft, cosy glow during the evenings. To maintain an uncluttered vibe, the ceiling is left simple — no levels, no recessed lights, just a smooth, uninterrupted plane that allows the focus to remain on the curated elements below. What truly brings this living space to life is the strategic use of art. The walls are adorned with a mix of textured and pop art, creating visual focal points that draw the eye while adding layers of depth. Every piece is chosen to evoke a sense of modern sophistication, ensuring that the living room is both a space to relax and a visual delight.

Moving fluidly into the dining area, you’re greeted by a space that feels twice its size, thanks to the clever use of bronze-tinted mirrors. These reflective surfaces not only amplify the room’s dimensions but also enhance the luxurious ambience. The dining table itself is a masterpiece — a sleek marble top resting on slender metal legs, accompanied by upholstered chairs that marry comfort with elegance. The console in the dining area serves a dual purpose, providing ample storage for cutlery while doubling as a statement piece against the fluted walnut panelling. Grooves run through the walls, subtly guiding the eye and enhancing the apartment’s linearity, making the entire space feel more cohesive.

One of the trickiest aspects of this project was the lengthy, linear passageway that connects all four bedrooms. The challenge was to break the monotony and create a sense of flow without altering the existing architecture. Siddhina’s solution? Mirrors, art, and strategic lighting. By incorporating large mirrors and artwork, she transformed the passage into a gallery-like experience, making it feel expansive rather than confined. Warm lighting fixtures were added to brighten the area and create a welcoming transition between the different spaces.

Each bedroom in this apartment carries its distinct vibe while maintaining the overarching theme of minimalistic luxury. The master bedroom, for instance, is a study in contrast with its rich tan leather bed and black floor panels. A textured white wall behind the bed serves as a subtle backdrop, allowing the unique lighting fixtures and bold wallpaper to take centre stage. The result is a room that feels both luxurious and inviting, a space where one can unwind after a long day. One of the standout rooms is the red-ceiling bedroom. Here, Siddhina took a bold step by incorporating a deep rust red on the ceiling, complemented by matching light fixtures and upholstery. The choice of red creates a pop of unexpected vibrancy, drawing attention upwards and giving the compact room an illusion of height. This design decision is both experimental and effective, proving that sometimes, a touch of bold colour is all it takes to redefine a space.

Then there’s the playful grey and yellow bedroom, which feels youthful yet sophisticated. A large, colourful painting serves as the focal point, while the study nook makes it perfect for a young adult. This room strikes a balance between functionality and style, making it versatile enough for a teenager or a guest room. The final bedroom or the parents’ room, is an intimate space designed to evoke a sense of calm, comfort, and quiet luxury. It’s similar in feel to the master bedroom but on a more subdued scale, offering a serene retreat for the homeowners. The room is a perfect blend of simplicity and elegance, where the focus is on creating a restful atmosphere with soft, harmonious details.

The culmination of these design choices results in a home that is a masterclass in balancing form and function. Siddhina Sakla’s approach to designing this Pune apartment showcases her ability to transform spaces through thoughtful, innovative design. Every element, from the bespoke furniture to the carefully curated art, works together to create a space that is not just aesthetically pleasing but also deeply functional. The result is a home that doesn’t just meet the client’s brief of being instantly livable but also one that invites you to linger, explore, and fall in love with its nuanced layers.
