Drawing inspiration from Goa’s natural landscapes, the design concept embraces a Coastal Contemporary theme with an understated tropical aesthetic. Rather than leaning into the obvious- bright colors, beachy motifs and nautical decor, the design takes a more refined approach—employing a layered, restricted material palette to evoke a sense of place.

The architecture is grounded in the principles of elegant simplicity and clean lines, with features like expansive openings, abundant natural light and a double-height ceiling in the living area setting the tone for a space that feels both elevated and deeply connected to its tropical environment.
The open-plan layout posed a unique design challenge, particularly in integrating a kitchen into the living space without disrupting its unobtrusiveness. The ground floor features a fluid arrangement of living, dining, and kitchen zones along with a bedroom, while the upper level includes a second bedroom and a lounge that was later adapted into a third. To further open up the space, a partial wall between the living area and bedroom was replaced with white, louvered folding doors, and a bulky staircase was swapped for a sleek, floating wooden one.
This approach helped maintain an uncluttered visual language. The design subtly avoids a rigid aesthetic, instead using ocean-inspired pastels, occasional bursts of color and patterned tiles to create focal points.
Natural textures and locally sourced materials form the heart of the interior language, with rattan, jute and wicker woven into both furniture and lighting choices. A vivid teal couch mirrors the kitchen backsplash, while a dual-level custom dining table allows for both casual and formal seating. In the bedroom, a minimal yet elegant poster bed set against a tropical wallpaper serves as the centerpiece. The wardrobes embrace functionality with a minimalist design, echoing a “less is more” philosophy.
Carefully handcrafted furniture pieces, pastel accents and subtle detailing enhance the overall sense of sophistication. Adding to the warmth and cohesion of the space, plants have been strategically woven into the design fabric allowing for a cohesive blend between nature and structure. This thoughtful layering of materials, colors and ideas has culminated in a breezy, modern coastal haven that bridges the gap between contemporary design and natural surroundings.
