Designed by Paolo Lettieri and Aswan Ibrahim Zubaidi, partners of Urbanism Planning Architecture – UPA Conultancy and UPA Italia, the building is characterized by staggered terraces and balconies that offer a panoramic sea view.
The terraced development of the tower allowed to create a form that would break the monotony of the compact and monotonous residential area of Al Reem Island and at the same time to have apartments with generous terraces overlooking the sea and views of the mangrove oasis.
The stepped pattern of the terraces also allows to cancel the sense of vertigo that one has on towers of such height and gives the apartments of the headroom an excellent livability, unique for the city of Abu Dhabi.
The idea was to build a tower with large terraces and with a dynamic and recognizable shape so as to stand out from the stereotype of the square-based glass tower typical of the residential areas of Abu Dhabi and many other Asian cities. The terraces of the project allow you to enjoy the mild climate for several months a year and to enjoy the view of the city and the mangrove forest.
This is unique in a city like Abu Dhabi where buildings are usually designed with an approach of refusing to live in the open air; the American culture of air conditioning has found an ally in this area in the culture of typical Middle Eastern introverted housing: the result is apartments in sealed rectangular boxes.
Urbanism Planning Architecture, after having developed the final project to be awarded in integrated contract to the builder, was subsequently called to re-adjust the executive project of the builder, in particular of the facade, heavily modified compared to the final project and to develop the interior design of the parts. common. The moment of design review was seen as an opportunity to give dynamism to the facade with the asymmetrical distribution, according to a non-rigid rhythm of the windows and balconies: the restyling by the Milan studio allowed to give a more European aspect and contemporary to the project.
The building, which is spread over 29 floors above ground, two of which are on the podium, with 3 levels of underground parking, consists of 481 apartments and duplexes of various sizes, commercial spaces, common facilities such as swimming pool and gym, 600 parking spaces, for a total area of about 80,000 square meters.
