Tree tower – A building is born around a central “tree” structure” that provides his entire energetical and living needs. This concept seeks a change in contemporary design where the building mass is planned as a first step, but here, as a secondary character, once the living tree core is established.

It’s a design path that seeks a new balance between man (architecture) and nature a new co-existence. The tree central structure, a free form one, made of timber and glass, functions as a living, healing core. It conserves sunlight, rainwater, wind and allows vertical vegetation farming to grow organic vegetation. In the ground level-it connects itself to other buildings in a continuous flow, as an urban root fabric- allowing cultural / public / green and eco friendly functions to happen underneath its protective structure.

The design phases: First, the central area was designed and planned as a free form shape, providing a home for nature inside the building. The residence of nature next to the human residence. This stage became the reference fort the rest of the building.

As a second stage, the building adapted itself around it- an action of breaking the human box! Breaking the design and planning orders. The apartments which face the main tree core- open up with terraces, balconies and green areas from ground to roof floors.

The images try to show how to consider and rethink the urban environment quality, the urban strategies of planning, with this suggestion to reverse the process and bring nature back to the design table as a main protagonist of space and architecture. If you think about it- a new co-existence is possible, new qualities of life and living can be introduced by reversing the roles or breaking the common boxes we use to see everywhere.

The ground level of the building is an open social/ meeting area for all residents or visitors. The main floors are planned as residences, mostly small apartments- each furnished with a private green balcony- facing the Tree core.

The roof is a small Urban Forrest with micro wind turbines. Using todays technologies and AI, , the building is made as an efficient Tree, collecting the most out of natures resources for the existence of the building and is able to control the efficiency of the energy usage.
