Do you ever go to a restaurant and adore its ambiance, are in wonder, feel at home, or want to enjoy a nice cup of coffee? People like to feel like they are a part of something; thus, themed restaurants or restaurants with a distinct identity are typically more successful than others. Most interior design influences the consumer, and you may persuade them to stay longer or for a shorter time, for example. Periodically the interior design for restaurants is carried out to complement the food and the Chef’s preference. On other occasions, the client or designer has something specific depending on the cuisine. The scale, colors, texture, and light are a few of the various factors important in the interior design of a restaurant. This article talks about unique ideas implemented in different parts of the world

1. Baovan Restaurant | Interior design for restaurants

Location: Valencia, Spain
Interior Designers: CLAP studio

The idea was to create an experience that reflected the essence and personality of Baovan, a brand associated with the sea, and with the slogan “Beers, beach, and baos.” The idea was to transfer the user to a beach where they could watch the sunset and eat some homemade baos. As the user enters the space, they will notice that it is separated into three distinct zones.

  • From the outside, we find “the forest,” a porch full of ropes that fall from the ceiling and imitate lush foliage.
  • After passing through the jungle, the user arrives at the beach, and its sunset.
  • A blanket of clouds is repeated on the roof, adding a magnificent ambiance to the interior by reflecting the ever-changing lights of the sunset.

2. Rosie and Tillie Restaurant and Bar

Location: New Delhi, India
Interior Designers: RENESA Architecture Design Interiors Studio

The idea of oppositeness is challenged with awe-driven youthful curiosity. As daylight transforms into night, the architectural design language in the spatial story embraces its clients, providing them with two diverse ambiances under one roof. Transitional design emerges inside these gaps in time, seizing the role of protagonists. Terracotta motifs, warm white terrazzo flooring, plants, and green spaces, produce a visual scenery for people to sit in and enjoy. The direct contrast between materials is well executed, with versatile seatings and backgrounds.

3. La Sastrería Restaurant | Interior design for restaurants

Location: Valencia, Spain
Interior Designers: Cortesía de Masquespacio

The design was inspired by chef Sergio Giraldo and bartender Cristóbal Bouchet’s idea of opening their restaurant, La Sastrera.

  • The Kitchen: This room is supposed to be active, much like a fish market, with many tile designs and colors. Typically, the kitchen is an overlooked aspect of restaurant interior design. Yet, anyone who works here will undoubtedly like their job.

  • The blue wave: The Chef’s seafood is a specialty that inspired the wave’s design, which led to the creation of a ceramic sculpture. The third area’s transition from blue to white feels like a beach ending with sand and water.

  • The white bar: This was created with the neighborhood and community in mind. On a hot day, it meant coming to the meeting place. Chairs similar to those used by locals are adapted to become a restaurant feature.

4. BLUFISH Restaurant

Location: Beijing, China
Interior Designers: SODA architects

Cute and cozy, BLUFISH is far from what you would expect from an underground restaurant. It makes complete sense also, as an underwater world feel is created, with the curved walls and sketches, initially hand drawn, that look like from a fairy tale world. The translucent pink and blue visual effects on the roof emphasize movement and invite you to come along inside. Flooring adds texture to the space and makes the white wall and ceiling feel even lighter.

5. Lotte Amoje, Food Capital | Interior design for restaurants

Location: Seoul, South Korea
Interior Designers: Karim Rashid

The food court offers a unique, iconic environment where people can come, connect, mingle, and dine in colorful settings. The organic turquoise “islands” provide personality and a modern appearance to the area and function as landmarks surrounding each column, where people meet and mingle. The islands are arranged in a radial pattern, enabling visitors to connect, talk, and socialize. The freeform ceiling extends the viewing plane outwards and upwards, allowing for concealed local lighting and dining.

6. Olivomare Restaurant

Location: London, United Kingdom
Interior Designers: Pierluigi Piu

Olivomare offers a seafood-only menu, with exquisite dishes made with simplicity. The restaurant is primarily white, radiating a fresh and modern environment to match the food served. The contemporary interior design incorporates patterns and textures reminiscent of an underwater ocean.

  • The lobby wall is made of a white, diamond-shaped divider that looks like fishing nets.
  • The main dining area is opposite the division, with a striking accent wall of what looks to be a compacted school of fish.
  • The second dining area is surrounded by a white, undulating wall resembling the sand of a windswept beach.
  • The bathroom area has a red-scaled, large coral reef pattern.

7. Omakase Restaurant

Location: Xuhui, China
Interior Designers: Shanghai Hip-pop Design Team

“In life, there are pleasant times and pink fantasies; it is more than just existing.”

Above was the designers’ concept statement, and the restaurant resembles a dream. The pink color indicates Sakura Rain (sky pink), and the hue depicts the sunset. Inside the restaurant are two magnificent moments of the sky and a place that never ends. The poetic notion is nicely implemented with light and shadow, the flooring pattern directs the eye, and the dew and flower-painted divider divide separate places. The restaurant retells a classic story modernly, keeping the essence as beautiful and coles to heart as possible.

8. Sadhu Vegetarian Restaurant | Interior design for restaurants

Location: Hà Nội, Vietnam
Interior Designers: Adrei Studio

This one-of-a-kind restaurant was created with an exhibition space in mind, with a flexible scheme open to moderation. An adaptable layout allows for a variable eating area arrangement, providing the most fantastic guest experience. During the day, natural light highlights the inherent beauty of textured surfaces. At night, artificial light adds depth to the area and creates a sense of closeness. The use of lighting converted the restaurant into an exhibition space, emphasizing the value of design and devotion.

9. Tin Tin Restaurant

Location: Chandigarh, India
Interior Designers: RENESA Architecture Design Interiors Studio

Tin Tin is a Pan-Asian restaurant that showcases minimalism and indigenous materials in its interior design. The facility delves boldly into the area of pure experimental design, a reflection of their cuisine. The concept was centered on instilling a sense of ‘Zen’ and using local materials as a part of the sharing economy. Without strict linear forms, intimate interstitial nooks and spaces welcome the user in an engaging embrace. The plan features a series of arches, curved ceilings, and a juxtaposition of solid and empty components.

10. LULU Bar and Restaurant | Interior design for restaurants

Location: Lisboa, Portugal
Interior Designers: DC.AD

Given the layout of the lot, two unique settings became part of the design proposal to serve a variety of uses. The first, adjacent to the main façade, is distinguished by the strong entrance of natural light and clear visibility of the public roadway. A more comfortable ambiance has been produced for the second room, with limited natural daylight inside, through the arrangement of a single generous sofa with its flowing organic design and easy use. This area may be utilized flexibly, midway between a bar and a dance floor, with a primary focus on a DJ table, low tables, and separate poufs. Pop color lighting in the restaurant wholly transforms the space at night.

11. Tease Me Cafe

Location: Kottayam, India
Interior Designers: Wallmakers

It is a rehabilitated godown turned into a café in the middle of the city, in a densely populated location with little ventilation. The concept employed fabric as a wall to maximize space use, maintain ventilation and give the room a distinctive appearance. The kitchen has an open plan so delicious aromas could drive straight to diners. The cooking process would be participatory and visible to them. It recycles waste fabric by reforming it with grey oxide, resulting in elegant folds that hold the undulations in place. The café is a poetic depiction of the elegance of free-falling fabric and its playful nature.

12. Kan Japanese Restaurant

Location: Beijing, China
Interior Designers: odd

Kan, a high-end Japanese restaurant created by “odd,” tells a tale about gifts in which a brand-new shape is poised to unveil the design concept.  The concept came from a traditional Japanese wooden container with six different boxes, used only on special occasions.  Allocating a traditional landscape beside the customer traffic flow is believed to delight those who roam and discover this region.  The gold powder spread over the dark wall glows when light falls on the dark wall.

13. Bofia Restaurant

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Interior Designers: AZAZ Architects

Bofia, The Tiled Cloud, is an updated version of the local canteens‘ unrepentant, direct, and straightforward style, famous for delivering quick, regional, and reasonably priced street food. Public sections are positioned outside so that people may admire the architectural geometry that has been constructed. The primary canvas of the area is made up of white tiles that are contrasted with silver metallic aluminum foam.

14. Cave Restaurant | Interior design for restaurants

Location: Sydney, Australia
Interior Designers: Koichi Takada Architects

The fundamental concept was to investigate “noise” at a restaurant and how it contributes to the acoustic comfort of dining outside. The timber profiles give a sound studio setting and a pleasant “noise” of eating discussion, providing a more personal experience and a visually attractive and complex environment. The sushi train is the most exciting aspect of the restaurant since it quickly unites individuals dining together. The acoustic curvatures were evaluated and created using computer modeling, and each ‘wood grain’ profile was translated and cut from 3-D data.
