What is Luxury interior design?

Expressions like luxury design, luxury living, luxury homes, and luxury lifestyle showcase a common characteristic shared by luxe spaces. The luxury interior is more than arranging sofas and over the top finishes. It is about bringing forth the authenticity, creativity, exploration that forms the real ground in the art of luxury interiors. The focus on details is what pushes the design boundaries, and the attention to detail is what truly makes the heart of luxe interiors.

There are numerous ways to introduce the luxury factor in interior projects:

1. COMFORT

The gift of luxury is associated majorly with living in the state of comfort, where the interior design makes the functions around the user convenient and smooth. Designs that evoke the feeling of warmth, well-being, and unique characteristics induce luxury in an immediate environment.  The quality of the environment and the elements that reflect comfort and lend the feeling of being alive is what is considered a luxury.

2. EXPERIENCE

Experiencing what the elements of design and materials convey is the most important journey for a user in the space. When a luxury interior is rooted in terms of cohesive shapes, colours, elements and textures, they create solidarity in design that makes the user feel indulgent and engages the users’ senses completely. Every person has a different idea of luxury, but the experience is what brings the idea together.

3. LESS IS MORE

The art of using only the necessary elements despite having a big budget perfects the style of modern luxury interiors. Clutter in design can be distracting and creates chaos and disorder. Every element should feel specially curated for space, and simple elements or focal points create luxury in interior design, reflecting minimalism in design can be as powerful as having multiple elements in an area.

4. CONSISTENCY IN DESIGN

A well-executed interior design is a consistent one, in harmony and where each element complements the other making the space look effortless. Unifying elements of design like shapes and forms in repetition, lines in rhythm flowing through all the spaces with variations according to needs but unified overall create a luxurious space for the user.

5. SUSTAINABLE & NATURAL MATERIALS

Luxury spaces nowadays feature materials and accents that are stylish yet good for the earth. Cruelty-free upholsteries, sustainable reclaimed wood and VOC-free paints are used in many luxury homes. The focus is to incorporate materials that define luxury and feel great, yet are environment friendly. Combining different finishes and materials like stone with metal, organic fabric and wood as examples are eco-friendly that add a unique layer of sophistication to space without it looking pretentious. Luxury is becoming environmentally conscious and consolidating the idea of luxury and sustainability.

6. MAKING STATEMENT

Personality is added in a room by the addition of a statement piece or feature. It can be a statement wall with a distinctive colour, bold furniture pieces, or different lighting fixture. The statement piece need not be of a large scale, and it can be as simple as a different type of furnishing, a mural or a vintage wall.

7. LIGHTING

Lighting is the most critical aspect of interior design which sets the mood of the space.  A play with the natural light and lighting pieces can transform an ordinary space. Attractive lamps, eye-catching chandeliers, ambient lighting on furniture pieces and ceiling, and placing mirrors in strategic places can create a very dynamic effect in the room. Lighting can be used in the most creative way to tie the space together and create a luxurious overall effect.

8. SOFT FURNISHINGS

Comfortable furnishings soften the overall tone of the room. Rugs made out of natural and earthy colours and textures of beige, white against wooden flooring and natural coloured throws and pillows on sofas create a mild industrial setting of the space. The interiors can be elevated by implementing some metallic finishes and touches of gold and bronze to add the luxury element.

9. SCALE

Exploring the aspect of scale helps introduce interesting elements like oversized elements and nuanced contrast in textures. Filling room with high ceilings over the top makes it the focal point of the room and creates a luxurious, large scale effect. Huge wall pieces or murals can be eye-catching that binds the whole space together.

10. METALLIC ELEMENTS

Metallic furniture pieces highlight the space and bring sheen to the interior scheme. Using metallic features on the wall creates a highlighted zone in the room, making it an accent wall.  Many metallic light fixtures are now used to bring about that extra look that stands out in the space.
