Carved stone, old timber and patterned tile are making their way into an unlikely room: the bathroom. Temple Town brings these materials together with finely worked metal, decorative lighting and tactile surfaces, treating every element as part of the room rather than simply a fixture within it.
Project Name: Bathroom into an Artisanal Sanctuary
Studio Name: Temle Town
The result feels layered and collected, with the warmth and detail more often associated with living spaces.
Hand-carved stone basins are particularly striking. Their rough, chiselled exteriors retain the irregularity of the material, sitting against polished counters and teak vanities with beautifully visible grain. Elsewhere, white vessel basins are paired with substantial wooden cabinetry, keeping the palette warm against expanses of grey stone.
Pattern changes the pace. Black-and-white geometric floors introduce a graphic note, while another bathroom uses narrow stripes across both floor and walls. A glass shower enclosure reveals botanical illustrations behind its black metal framework, turning an otherwise practical partition into part of the composition. Ribbed glass offers privacy without closing off the room.
The detailing becomes more decorative in places. Ornate gilded mirrors, suspended glass lights and a crystal chandelier sit alongside exposed timber ceiling beams. In quieter bathrooms, oval or timber-framed mirrors and simple wall lights keep the emphasis on stone and wood.
Rather than treating heritage craft as ornament added at the end, these bathrooms build it into the surfaces, joinery and objects themselves. Stone bears the hand of the maker, timber brings warmth, and pattern gives each room its own distinct identity.
