“When designing a dwelling for a young businessman, it’s essential to create an environment that supports relaxation after a busy day,” observes interior designer Marina Mirasova. “The design elements we’ve implemented in this project are timeless, ensuring that the space remains functional and appealing for years to come,” adds the project’s author.

This 100 m² apartment is situated in the renowned Clock Tower on New Arbat, Moscow, a building celebrated for its architectural heritage. It offers breathtaking views of the city center. Tasked with transforming this space within just four months, interior designer Marina Mirasova aimed to craft an interior that conveyed modern elegance. Despite the structural limitations of the historic site, where all walls are load-bearing, the layout was preserved.
Marina approached the interior design with a vision to infuse the apartment with warmth, counterbalancing the client’s preference for dark, robust hues with cozy touches to avoid any sense of dreariness. She transformed the hallway into an arresting visual focal point with a deep shade called EL MAR, reminiscent of the deep ocean and frothy sea spray, anchored by a dramatic metallic sculpture by artist Konstantin ZMOGK.
The living and dining areas are harmoniously unified by a cohesive color scheme. A backdrop of subtle gray lends the areas a calm yet dynamic atmosphere, balanced by warm golden accents in accessories and lighting, and the depth of black in selective decorative elements. The use of natural wood for wall finishes introduces warmth and structure, deepening the palette’s dark tones. Furniture throughout the apartment, custom-designed by Marina Mirasova from her original sketches — including doors, partitions, and wall panels — brings the design full circle, ensuring each piece resonates with the space’s refined ethos.
This stylish and dynamic space matches the owner’s lifestyle and preferences. It is brought to life with thoughtful attention to detail and a commitment to both functionality and aesthetic elegance. This creates a personalized haven that perfectly aligns with the urban sophistication of its surroundings.
