The design intends to continue the landscape under the building in an open way to provide outside space. In a simple and natural way, a generous ‘roof’ is established and offers a protected outside area for the children during breaks.

The open ground floor provides benches, niches and painting walls for the children and even allows outdoor classes.

Consequently, the supporting base is designed as a concrete structure like a table. Above that, the classrooms are designed as a light and modular wooden construction.

For a future extension there will be the possibility for a kindergarten under the ‘roof’ with a direct connection to the outside areas.

STUDIO

With 20 years of experience my motivation is to develop ideas and solutions in a collaborative dialogue by integrating a sustainable, creative and critical approach in each project. Material Responsible Design is my strategy to react with common sense, responsibility and vision to find an authentic answer for people and their unique environmental and social context. Sustainability is not a limitation but a welcome opportunity to rethink and reorganise architectural processes and habits.
Architecture is a way to develop future, space and home.

if necessary:
Christian Schmitt, Founder of alltag.org was teaching at ETH Zurich with Anna Heringer and Martin Rauch with a focus on a material sustainably in particular earth and simple building methods. Besides his own studio practice he worked in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron, Ferdinand Heide, Berrel Kräutler in Germany, Switzerland and internationally. He gained valuable experience in all fields of architectural design practice from concept design to completion. Christian Schmitt is currently Associate Professor in the Architecture and Urban Design Program at the German University in Cairo. Material Responsible Design and the complexity of its integration into design is a main aspect in his academic and professional approach.
