Our goal was to bring a new, casual dining concept to Yekaterinburg, Russia, one that reflects the city’s local culture and natural beauty while offering an immersive dining experience.
Local Identity at the Heart of Design
One of the core ideas of the restaurant’s interior design is to highlight the local identity through the use of materials and decor sourced exclusively from the region. By incorporating furniture crafted by Ural-based manufacturers, we not only support local craftsmanship but also align the design with the restaurant’s philosophy of using locally sourced ingredients in its menu. The materials, textures, and color schemes of the space all mirror the authenticity of the culinary offerings, creating a seamless connection between food and environment.

A Space for Everyone
Forest features a range of seating options to accommodate different dining experiences. At the heart of the space is a communal table designed for larger groups, symbolizing unity and fostering a sense of togetherness. This central piece brings guests together and reflects the restaurant’s spirit of inclusivity. Additionally, cozy seating areas with sofas offer a more relaxed setting for guests who prefer comfort and privacy. For those looking for a quicker meal or drink, the bar area provides an inviting atmosphere to enjoy a snack or a refreshing beverage. This variety of seating options ensures that guests of all preferences feel at home, whether they are dining with friends, colleagues, or alone.
Addressing Spatial Challenges
The narrow, elongated layout of the space, combined with high ceilings, presented a unique design challenge. To overcome this, we carefully planned the layout to maximize both comfort and functionality. Zoning the space allowed us to visually expand the room, creating a sense of openness without compromising on intimacy. The high ceilings were accentuated with suspended wooden ceiling islands, which not only helped to bring warmth to the space but also added a touch of natural elegance. The organic flow of the design ensured that guests could move effortlessly through the space, whether they were enjoying a meal at the communal table or sipping a drink at the bar.

Nature Indoors
One of the standout features of Forest is its connection to nature. Large, floor-to-ceiling windows provide stunning views of the riverside and the adjacent park, bringing natural light into the restaurant and creating a seamless connection with the outdoors. Instead of traditional fabric curtains, we opted for lightweight wooden slats that allow guests to enjoy the natural surroundings while maintaining privacy. The design focuses on natural materials like wood, stone, and eco-friendly textiles, all of which contribute to a warm and sustainable atmosphere. These materials not only enhance the aesthetics of the space but also align with the restaurant’s commitment to sustainability.
Local Accents
To reinforce the idea of local identity, we collaborated with regional artisans to create unique decor and furniture pieces. This collaboration not only celebrates the craftsmanship of the Ural region but also adds authenticity and individuality to the space. From bespoke light fixtures to custom-designed wall decorations, every element of the design reflects the local philosophy, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the restaurant.

A Harmonious Fusion of Nature and Modernity
Forest is a space where nature meets modernity. Every aspect of the design is infused with the essence of local culture, from the materials used to the decor. The interior is a reflection of the surrounding environment, where natural elements blend effortlessly with contemporary design. It is a place where guests can relax, unwind, and connect with nature, all while enjoying delicious food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. By combining modernity with natural beauty, Forest has become a true reflection of Yekaterinburg’s heart and soul, offering a unique dining experience that resonates with both locals and visitors alike.

In every detail, Forest captures the essence of a space where food, design, and nature come together to create a harmonious experience. The restaurant offers more than just a place to eat; it’s an immersive experience that celebrates the beauty of the region and the connection between people, nature, and food.
