Tucked within Delhi’s urban fabric, Together is an intimate listening bar inspired by Japanese listening rooms and vinyl culture. Designed around the interplay of sound, material, light and atmosphere, the 800 sq ft space is conceived as a place of discovery, where the experience extends beyond the bar itself.

The arrival sets the tone through a dedicated vinyl-inspired foyer, finished in classic black-and-white subway tiles. A neon sign reading “Off the Walls”, a reference to Michael Jackson’s iconic album, introduces a playful graphic moment before giving way to the warmer, more immersive character of the main bar.

Inside, the space takes cues from the intimacy of Japanese sake bars. Rich walnut, used extensively through custom Smoked Walnut Veneer by Flamingo Veneers, establishes a warm, grounded palette reminiscent of a basement cellar. The defining architectural gesture is a long curved wall that rises and merges into the ceiling, evoking the depth and enclosure of a wine cellar. Concealed lighting grazes its textured surface, creating a soft interplay between shadow, light and material.

Designed for just 28 guests, the compact layout balances functionality with a sense of openness and comfort. Mirrors are strategically introduced to expand the perceived volume of the space. A horizontal mirror band runs at eye level along the seating, while a mirrored shelving wall reflects movement and activity within the bar, adding another layer of visual depth.

Music remains at the heart of Together. A floating DJ console places the sound source directly within the social space, allowing guests to engage more closely with the music and reinforcing the character of a traditional listening bar.

The material palette is deliberately restrained. Travertine counters and tabletops introduce a tactile stone element against the warmth of the timber, while bespoke travertine wall sconces provide a soft, diffused glow. Every piece of furniture has been custom-designed for the space, with recurring arched forms creating visual continuity across tables and other elements. Seating combines distinctive backrests with an emphasis on comfort, allowing guests to settle in for longer listening sessions.

Lighting is kept deliberately low and atmospheric, drawing attention to the grain of the wood, the curves of the architecture and the varying textures across the space. Rather than illuminating the interior uniformly, it creates pockets of warmth and shadow that reinforce the bar’s intimate character.

Within its compact footprint, Together creates a layered and immersive environment where sound, materiality, lighting and form are carefully choreographed. The result is a concealed urban retreat that transforms the listening-bar experience into something tactile, intimate and deeply atmospheric.
