Anchored in the belief that healing environments must extend beyond sterile function, the design embraces warmth, dignity, and comfort—especially for its key user groups: women and children.
The architectural philosophy leans into restraint and rhythm—balancing the high-performance demands of a clinical setting with a hospitality-inspired ambiance. From site-responsive planning to light-infused public zones and muted pastel palettes, the hospital expresses a design language that is minimal, calm, and emotionally attuned.
Concept:
The character of the project, along with the client’s brief for it to be emotionally responsive and human-centered—while also being functional in terms of clinical spaces and technology—challenged the architect to respond with sensitivity, ingenuity, and restraint.

The concept of planning and design is based on a simple yet powerful idea: that healthcare spaces, particularly those catering to women and children, should reflect comfort, dignity, and emotional ease just as much as clinical functionality. The architect’s approach weaves together the essentials of modern healthcare technology with warm, patient-centered spaces that break away from the impersonal image long associated with hospitals.
Spatial Narrative:
Entrance + Reception Atrium:
Visitors are welcomed into a striking double-height reception atrium—a transitional space flooded with natural light. Rooted in both scale and spirit, the entrance includes a serene temple at its threshold—a cultural gesture that introduces sanctity and emotional grounding to the medical journey. Glazed openings, Italian tile finishes, and understated lighting contribute to a calm, hotel-like atmosphere where orientation is effortless and dignified.

Ground Floor – Emergency & OPD:
Prioritizing accessibility and immediacy, the ground floor houses emergency wards, outpatient clinics, and general waiting lounges. Open-plan layouts and daylight openings make the experience less clinical, more humane. The double-height volume provides breathing room, while visual clarity ensures stress-free navigation for first-time visitors.
First Floor – Maternity + NICU:
Designed with sensitivity, this level accommodates pre- and post-labour rooms, along with a NICU that functions as a secure cocoon for newborns. Acoustically controlled, softly lit, and finished in blush tones, the NICU provides both medical rigor and emotional care. Patient rooms are thoughtfully sized, balancing privacy with proximity to care providers.
Second Floor – Post-Operative + IVF:
This restorative level hosts dialysis units, post-op maternity wards, and a state-of-the-art IVF center. The atmosphere is calm and focused, with sound insulation and subdued finishes that support recovery and reflection. Here, technical complexity meets a language of softness—elevating the patient experience without visual noise.

Third Floor – Private Stays + Suites:
Crafted for longer-term stays, this floor echoes the design sensibility of boutique hospitality. Private rooms and suites prioritize comfort, discretion, and accessibility. Natural light, layered furnishings, and neutral tones help establish a sense of temporary home for patients and families alike.
Fourth Floor – Surgery + ICUs:
At the apex of clinical care, this level contains surgical theatres and intensive care units. Service corridors, sterile zones, and clinical storage areas are woven seamlessly into the floorplate—ensuring operational precision without compromising on aesthetics or emotional neutrality.

Basement & Fifth Floor – Diagnostics + Back-of-House:
These levels integrate diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray), pathology labs, laundry, administrative offices, and staff lounges. Circulation paths are delineated to minimize cross-contamination while enabling smooth logistical flows for hospital personnel.
Material Palette:
A sense of calm permeates the hospital through its restrained material choices. Public-facing zones are finished in high-sheen Italian tiles—offering both sophistication and ease of maintenance. Critical care areas transition to antimicrobial vinyl flooring, while non-clinical spaces use full-body vitrified tiles for a monolithic, low-contrast aesthetic.

Color psychology is integral—soft whites, pastel pinks, and warm neutrals form a visual language that gently guides users through varied emotional zones. Plush furnishings, curved furniture, and layered lighting soften the edges of institutional design.
